The economy of the Philippines as a whole was growing for some time until the pandemic crisis happened.  Each region of the country was being developed. Philippines has some industries that are now being recognized internationally.

Tourism is the first industry that comes to our mind. The country is well known for it's beaches and natural tropical landscapes.  Several young people from across the globe are mainly traveling to our vacation spots.  As the country continues to develop it's cities infrastructures, more people will consider wanting to visit them.  Manila especially will attract a lot of tourist.

Another industry that has gained recognition is the service industry. The last decade as well as this year so far, there were and still are a lot of young Filipinos working at call centers and accounting departments.   When I'm on the phone with a customer service I usually talk to a Filipino representative.  At times, I'll talk to a customer service representative from India. However they were helpful at answering and solving.

We do have several Filipina nurses and there are a lot contract workers especially seamen.

I see a lot of agricultural and fish products imported to here in America from Thailand. They produce products that the country of the Philippines is known for producing also. Hopefully one day here in America we could see more products made in the Philippines.

Most of the coconuts produced in Philippines are exported to it's neighboring countries.

I see coconut products here in America such as coconut oils made in Philippines but it also includes other countries such Mexico, India, Indonesia, Thailand.

I don't think American drink as much coconut juice as Filipinos

I agree.  They put too much sugar and other preservatives in the coconut juice and it's also overpriced.

They only like the ripe bananas found on the produce section of the grocery store.  Several of them haven't tried the other banana varieties which is only edible to eat after being boiled or fried such as plantains.

It's popular among the Hispanics especially Caribbean people.  Plantain is usually bought and sold at a Hispanic market.

It depends on what dish, pinto beans are used for tostadas and burritos while black beans are used for some burritos and salads.

Philippines should also be exporting rice more.  I bought a rice bag the other day at a Filipino market and the label says it's made in Thailand.  The rice in the Philippines is considered good quality and yet the country does not export enough to other countries.

During the 60's, Thai people would travel to the Philippines and learn how to grow rice.  They would eventually travel back to Thailand and start growing a commercialize rice.  Since then Thai rice has been exported in large volumes here in the states.  The Filipino markets here in the states should be selling rice from the Philippines as much as any rice producing countries.

Several people at the service center in the Philippines have to work at home including employees at the call centers.
