Since then, there have been news stories saying that the nuclear plant has been bombarded. If the plant was damaged to a sufficient degree, there could be a second Chernobyl incident.

The New York Times reported on Monday, citing accounts from Ukrainian officials, that Russians have been shelling towns from a position inside the nuclear plant, knowing that Ukrainian forces would not strike back for fear of triggering a nuclear blast.
Although I am a layman, I think it would be more accurate to say that another Chernobyl could occur, not a nuclear explosion.
