Why is the North Vietnam so poor compared to the South Vietnam?

If you ask the poors they will have a million of reasons and 99.999% of those reasons will be just excuses or blames.

In this case, you would expect those backy/commies' answers will be blaming the geographical or wars which made them poor.

If you ask 60 million of them, you would expect 60 millions of the same answers, you thought those many answers would make thing true but not if you ask the smart Backy54 who moved to west they likely to have different answer for you.

Ask yourself, if you know your land made you poor then why not move to a more fertilize land ? if you are forced to stay and can't move why not do something else instead of planting crops on the barren land?

What made the poors poor is the way they think and do. Instead of re-evalute themselves and analyze the situation and things around them to fix/or solve the issues they just simply put up some blame excuses because that easy for their simple minds or just to save their face/pride.

Look at Singapore, it's just a small island does not even have fresh water or Japan a chain of islands near north pole with frequent earthquakes. How they became rich ?

If you ask me why I am poorer than BillGate? I have the answer too. I am not white, I speak broken English, I did not have proper support from the family, and, he is smarter than me. There's blame excuse but hey atleast I admitted the fact I am not capable. My answer still way better than lame-excuses you would expect to hear from those Backy/Commies in this forum.
