some seem centralid, others margid; some mixed between these types and subtypes of each (Sonorid, Margid, Pueblid, Centralid, Isthmid) They are not uniform, just because centralid, isthmid etc are commonly associated with Mayan people, not all Mayans are just centralid and nothing else. Some are pure Centralids, others are Margids, and a lot of them are mixed Centralid-Margid. Just like how you can find Pueblids, Margids, Silvids or Pacifids among Great Plains Tribes. Also curly hairs are not unheard of among natives and can occur in some of these populations.

Compare to these who are pure or almost pure Maya Centralid Types

And here some Margids from various Tribes

Another good example of margids are the Apaches.

But a lot of them don't resemble this Istmid morph, or resemble these Mayans from Guatemala who seem to be less robust and have more pseudo-Asiatic features like deeper eyes, rounder faces and flatter nose.

I guess Mayans are diverse phenotypically as Zhulta wrote in the earlier post.

Centralids are one of the most widespread phenos among amerindians, can be found in Northern South America up till the mid USA, so depending on the region i think there were lot of influences absorbed.

Native Americans as whole seem to be weird that sometimes they can look like they dont belong to the same race IMO

look at these examples of Tarahumara, who are mostly sonorid or californid. they have deep set eyes, eyebrows and even moderate beard growth.

Especially the man above, i hardly saw a native with that much facial hair

other tarahumara look very asian

I know it is said that Amerindians are 20-30% ANE, but would that still be visible today, after tens of thousands of years? And wouldnt it show on a DNA Test that these are essentialy two different races? Margid phenotypes are said to be from the earlier migrations into the america. same with lagids, who also show deep set eyes, stronger brows.

I find Xingu people interesting aswell, they seem to be different from other amazon natives, showing a lot of lagid influence.

Are phenos like lagids and margids closer to what the ANE people might have looked like?

Which phenotype would you say are more common among the Mayan: the highland (I think this is Pueblid?) or the lowland (Istmid) look?

But why do many Lacandon seem to resemble the highland Mayans in their phenotypes than the lowland ones? They seem to look a lot more progressive and seem taller and robust than the lowland ones. For example:
