before 1800 china's qing dynasty was powerful, the decline of the qing dynasty started around 1840.

In 1793 a corrupt official named heshen hosted the Macartney Embassy, the first British diplomatic mission to China. Extensive cultural, political, and geographical observations were recorded in China and brought back to Europe.
In 1799 heshen was persecuted for coruption and other crimes.

In 1820 michael faraday discovered electromagnetic induction, that seed lead to discoveries like electric motor technology.
Remember china invented the compass, michael faraday discovered electromagnetic induction through the work of Hans Christian Ørsted(when he noticed that the needle of a compass next to a wire carrying current turned so that the needle was perpendicular to the wire).
You would think that because china invented the compass they too would have done experiments with it and would have made the same discovery that orsted made but only sooner.

Do you guys think that the corrupt offical heshen sold secrets to the foreigners which allowed europeans to make great discoveries that propelled them and caused the decline of china?
Is it a coincidence that major discoveries by europeans occured after a corupt offical hosted an embassy that brought back vast knowledge of china to europe. A corupt offical that was persecuted by his own country, with crimes like "defiance of imperial supremacy" and "power transcendence".
china and the US are always going at it with 'intellectual property", its kind of ironic that it was 'intellectual property that foreigners stole from china that helped cause the fall of china.

Oh yeah theres a new show on tvb that talks about the same corupt official. Its called Succession War, it premiered on 25 June 2018 on TVB Jade.
The show is a fictional biography story about the last 28 days of the life of Qing dynasty court official Heshen.

=. The habits of luxury and big spending led to moral degradation and the general decline of the dynasty. The Qianlong Emperor's Ten Great Campaigns were completed at the cost of 120 million taels, against an annual revenue of some 40 million taels. The result of these massive spendings and increasing trend towards luxury set the path towards financial instability within the later part of the Qing Dynasty.

Not only henshen was corrupt, a lot of the corruption trickled down even further to other ranks within the qing dynasty. Could it be that the europeans basicly bribed a lot of qing's millitary officers which led to the decline of the qing dynasty?

But where was the europe's source of riches?

Well in 1600s and 1700s europeans conquest of india and africa gave them a lot of riches, which they then used to bribe a lot of qing officals and millitary officers. China wouldnt allow europeans to trade opium for chinese goods china only wanted silver. So the europeans instead used silver to bribe court officials and milillitary officers so they can over throw the powers of the emperor.

People have been stealing gr8 each other for centuries the Arabs stole the Hindu-Arabic numerical system from India. The Spanish stole Aztec gold and technology and even the British stole from the Spanish when they captured Spanish Galleons.

Stealing and corruption is inherently morally wrong but what's even worse is a China keeping all the secrets to itself and not sharing technology while the rest of the world live like Barbarians. If they want to act morally superior, then they shouldn't steal from the rest of the world today, China is number 1 in the world in Software piracy and they use Chinese college ststudents in the US to steal military secrets. Oh come on China you weep and weep of "muh victimhood" only for you to play the bully too. Stand up and be a Damn hero who knew what it means to suffer instead of turning into the monster you hate.

It's like in the movie Blade, the Protagonist has his people murdered, eaten or turned into soulless monsters by hordes of vampires but when Blade's mother was pregnant with him and nearly turned into a vampire herself her son was struck by vampiric powers but retained his humanity. To avenge the death of his people he used his vampiric powers to slay the slayers of his people. China could have gone that path but instead chose to become a full on monster.
