NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – A man slapped a woman across the face at a Bronx subway station in what’s being investigated as a suspected anti-Asian hate crime, police said.
The NYPD released surveillance video of the attack Monday as they search for a suspect. The department’s Hate Crime Task Force is investigating.
Police said a 58-year-old woman was on the southbound platform of the 174th Street station in Crotona Park East on the morning of Dec. 1 when she was approached by her attacker just after 6:15 a.m.
The man made an anti-Chinese statement to the woman and then slapped her in the face, police said. Video shows the victim running from the man after he assaults her.
The woman suffered pain to her face and a scratch to her nose. She refused medical attention, according to police.
The attacker fled the station, police said.
