CHICAGO, Illinois—Police say a 26-year-old Asian man was shot and killed in the Logan Square neighborhood Saturday morning while standing on the porch of a friend’s home.

According to Chicago Journal, the senseless attack happened around 3:25 a.m. Saturday morning in the 2100 block of N. Albany, near the intersection of N. Albany and W. Dickens Avenues.

From what authorities gather, the 26-year-old male victim was standing on the porch of a friend’s home when he sustained a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to Mt. Sinai where he was pronounced dead a little after 4:00 a.m.

The victim has since been identified as Suraj M. Mahadeva of Humboldt Park, reports The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

No one is in custody and an investigation is ongoing.

This comes as a surge of Asian-Americans are being targeted and murdered by criminal elements within the African-American community in Chicago and throughout the United States.

On December 1, 59-year-old Rae Park was shot and killed during an attempted robbery in Lincoln Square. In early November, 24-year-old University of Chicago graduate Dennis Zheng was shot and killed during a robbery in Hyde Park.

In mid-July, a Chinatown couple were shot after being robbed—even though they complied with their assailant’s demands. On January 9, 2021, a 30-year-old University of Chicago Ph.D. student, Yiran Fan was shot and killed while sitting inside his parked car in a parking garage.

Back on February 12, 2020, 36-year-old Huayi Bian and 38-year-old Weizhong Xiong were shot multiple times in the head and killed after an attempted robbery. They had just returned home from work.

Alvin Thomas, an African-American man was charged with two counts of first-degree murder of Bian and Xiong. Alvin’s mother, Sherrie Kellum, cried during a press conference, “My heart is hurting. I can’t think. I can’t eat. I’m hurting. I want my baby to come home.”

Kellum didn’t care her son murdered two Chinese men, she just wanted “her baby” back home.

NEW YORK CITY—An aspiring model who recently moved from her native Thailand to pursue her dreams in the Big Apple told the Daily Mail she is “lucky to be alive” after a brutal beating in the subway station by a deranged African-American man last month.

23-year-old Bew Jirajariyawetch said the horrific attack happened around 4 a.m. after she was going home from a concert—the attack remains a blur.

Jirajariyawetch was grabbed from behind in a chokehold, thrown to the ground, and savagely punched in the face, and robbed of her purse at the 34^th Street Herald Square station on November 22, according to the Daily Mail.

In the video, which went viral in early December, the African-American attacker beat Jirajariyawetch, sexually assaulted her, snatched her purse, and walked away.

New York City Crime Stoppers released a short clip of the cold-hearted thief jumping a subway turnstile before the attack, and are offering a reward of $3,500 for information that leads to his arrest.

Many Asians new to the United States assume the country is as safe as their homelands. Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, and much more are relatively safe. Many are shell-shocked by the amount of crime plaguing American cities when they first arrive.

SAN DIEGO, California—Mark Sonouvong, 81, is recovering at Scripps Mercy Hospital after being savagely beaten Friday morning, reports CBS8.

The San Diego police say they have opened a hate crime investigation.

Dennis Lambert, Sonouvong’s brother-in-law, told CBS8 he was shocked after seeing him Friday at the hospital.

LAS VEGAS, Nevada—An Asian man was shot multiple times and critically injured at a Las Vegas Chinese restaurant early Monday morning, announced the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Police officers responded to a 911 call in the 4200 block of Spring Mountain Road just before 3 a.m. and found the victim suffering from multiple gunshots wounds, reports KTNV13.

Owners of Shanghai Taste stated the victim is their lead waiter and he was trying to stop a “senseless and vicious burglary attempt at our restaurant.” The waiter was shot at least 11 times during the botched robbery.
