It is a business as well. Why do pastors have to get paid just so a couple can get married? Also you have to pay for the ceremony, the clothes, the place to rent, food and etc. And than if you get a divorce, you have to get a lawyer. Give half of your stuff to the ex wife if you guys signed a prenup and what not. Love is not supposed to be measured by the money, love should be free, but we human don't understand the concept of free love. So we tend to replace love with money instead.

You don't need a Pastor to get married, all you need is a marriage contract, the judge, captain or pastor (in my case, a priest) are just representative witnesses of society who officiates but are not the agents, the primary agents in a marriage is the bride and groom and the matter of the sacrament is the marriage contract while it's form is the matrimonial vows. Free love is well and good, but the reason why we have monogamous marriages is to prevent confusing and sometimes deadly and competitive inheritance fights which is spurred when you have many half siblings as a result of polygamy or "free love" which means promiscuous sex.
