Perhaps one of the largest ancient cities ever built?! This city was constructed on the slope of a mountain.
This isolated ancient city in Peru may have been abandoned because there was a long period of severe drought, and the ecosystem eventually turned into an inhospitable desert to thrive in. Similarly, ancient cities in the Southwest of USA were abandoned due to severe drought such as Chaco Canyon, Mesa Verde, and plus more.
However, I do believe that the ancient indigenous citizens were resilient, and it took several factors for this large city to collapse. Besides the climate change, other factors such as war or disease may have played a role. Maybe the ancient city was too isolated that it was no longer economically viable for the citizens.
