Florida deputies attacked at traffic stop, suspect shot and killed  | Daily Mail Online

  • Dashcam footage shows the moment Brevard County deputies Brian Potters and Tyler Thoman were ambushed by a gunman, prompting a shootout
  • Shooter Paris Wilder, 38, was left dead and Potters was severely injured
  • The officers were doing a routine traffic stop when Wilder jumped out of the car 'with a small stock AR-15-styled rifle' and started shooting
  • He then used the butt of the gun to beat Potters, prompting Thoman to use fatal force to 'eliminate the threat'
  • Wilder was a career criminal with 40 previous arrests and the Sheriff's Office said he was out on bond avoiding another arrest when the shooting took place
  • The investigation is ongoing and both deputies have been placed on paid administrative leave, which is customary in all deputy-involved shootings
  • Potters is seen running away from the gunman as Wilder takes cover behind the car and continues shooting. The officers returned fire. 'I've been hit,' Potters shouts as Wilder starts hopping on one foot, appearing to have been shot too

Paris Wilder (pictured) was a career criminal with 40 previous arrests. He was out on bond for two felony drug charges and two active felony warrants when the shooting happened. He was pronounced dead at the scene

Cop, 24, fatally shot during Indiana traffic stop, police say (yahoo.com)

A 24-year-old cop was fatally shot during a traffic stop in Indiana early Sunday, according to officials.

Elwood Police Department officer Noah Shahnavaz was struck by gunfire at least once after the suspect got out of his car and fired multiple rounds at him, Indiana State Police said during a press conference.

The incident occurred at around 2 a.m. local time. Authorities say the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Carl Webb Boards II, fled in his car, prompting a police pursuit that ended with Boards in custody.

Shahnavaz had served Elwood, which is located in central Indiana, for 11 months and was a five-year military veteran, state police said.

I hate to reinstate this but I'm not fan of police.  I wouldn't be flying the blue lives matter flag but all of this police vilification makes our society less safe.

Police use force in less than 1% of arrests, fire weapons even less, says new book | Daily Mail Online

It runs counter to dozens of studies that have found that black people disproportionately suffer from police stops, searches and deaths in custody. A recent opinion poll found that 89 percent of Americans wanted police reforms.

Mangual, however, says he has crunched the numbers and found a ‘glaring incongruity between what the harshest critics of law enforcement were saying — about imprisonment and police use of force — and reality’.

‘A sober examination of the data on who goes to prison reveals that lengthy terms of incarceration are reserved for chronic, violent offenders who’ve already been given multiple “second chances”,’ said Mangual.

Crime researcher Rafael Mangual says police use force and fire weapons during arrests far less than is appreciated, and that the justice system works well at locking up persistent and violent offenders

Teen who battered cop in Manhattan subway station & put him in CHOKEHOLD has already been released | Daily Mail Online

so-called teen bigger than the cop. when you punch a cop, don't get mad if they shoot you.

A vicious teenager who started a brawl with an NYPD officer and put him in a chokehold has already been released under the city’s relaxed bail laws.

Horrifying footage shows the 16-year-old boy punching the cop in the head before grabbing him around the neck and slamming him repeatedly into metal railings.

An officer confronted the boy who allegedly jumped a turnstile in East Harlem over the weekend, before the teenager lashed out.

He was reportedly previously arrested for possession of a loaded gun and robbery, but  was released the next day after appearing in court.

Another teen, a 16-year-old girl, ducked under the turnstile with him and initially tried to drag officers off the boy while throwing punches.
