My bad. Are you surprised the first politician is from Madagascar considering he look much more South Asian and don't show African features?

@tristan-cruz

Nope. Just search the origin of these two politicians if you want.

He's atypical from what I've seen so far in Madagascar and likely he's viewed by several of his countrymen as a foreigner at first glance which is similar to what I've seen in some areas in Philippines where I see South Indians are viewed as foreigners even though they were born and raised in Philippines.

@prau123

You been to Madagascar before or seen in pictures from there?

Well he belongs to the Merina, which is the most Austronesian/Mongoloid and the least Negroid/African admixed ethnic group in Madagascar. The average Merina is like around 70-75% Austronesian and 25-30% African and very minor amounts of Euro/Caucasoid input (depending on the individual). Many Merinas look pure SE Asian and don't show any Negroid influence in their phenotypes. I'm not sure how typical/common his look is among the Merina.

Would you say him or those South Indians that you ever met are more likely to pass/viewed as local in the Philippines by the Pinos?
