They could have chosen a korean to play the role. But they didn't, outside of the 2 main characters there is alot of race swapping going on in the movie.
I think they like to dispel stereotype by casting people who don't have the "typical" look. she looks Vietnamese to me esp with her official photo. Could be southern chinese.
