I would not guess that he is part Asian if I ever met someone similar to him. Halfsies usually have featured both from their Dad & Mom.

Actually the country that has a lot of Malagasy (actually SE Asian) admixture other than Madagascar is the Comoros, a small archipelago of islands between Kenya, Tanzania and Madagascar.
There was a study that concluded that some Comorians could have up to around 20% SE Asian admixture. The rest of their DNA being predominantly SSA with Indian/Arab ancestry.
Btw OP is not a Malagasy but you are in the right direction. Keep guessing.
