My point is there is no such myth/legend in their family, so aside from a dna test, why put too much stock on something made up?

I do believe you and your friend's statement.  However there's nothing made up here, there are some pure Filipinos that I knew that actually didn't know that they had a small percentages in Spanish Ancestry because they could no longer trace pass beyond their great great grand parents generation.   They appear pure Filipinos and always believed they were pure Filipinos even though they have around only 1% Spanish Ancestry - likely one generation only also.  Regardless if your friend does or doesn't have is debatable at this point and could only be resolved through genetic testing. In general, I doubt several Filipinos have Spanish ancestry.

I guess when you mentioned there's no myth or legend in their family, it suggested that your friend has substantial information of her families heritage further back in the timeline than most of us Filipinos could recall or have any sources on.
