Yes I noticed it in beauty standards too, if a Filipina is beautiful people claim oh its' Spanish descent, but when it's a Korean who is beautiful it's because the Natives are already pretty, even though both would look the same.

I always thought it was a backhanded compliment for Filipinas

Yes, the term Tisay or Tisoy may mean beautiful or handsome in Filipino but it carries colonial connotations too since it's a shorterning of Mestizo/Mestiza.

If a Japanese or Korean looked like a K-Pop Star she or he is considered to be part of the Korean or Japanese people as a pure blood, meanwhile if a Filipino looked like a Filipino Celebrity, people think that she/he might have foreign blood.

Western POV: Rich and handsome Filipino = Must have some Spanish admixture there somehwere.

Same Western POV: Rich and handsome South Korean = Pure Korean looks, phenotype and riches.

It's unfair for Filipinos.

Korean wave don't exist in the western hemisphere. Maybe just for the 15 year old naive girls browsing youtube. Give it another 10-15 years kpop will disappear just like raggaeton and disco. 

@angelo Yeah like 15 year olds who are naive enough to think Koreans like melanated people.
