23andme now break down SEA to Vietnamese, Laos, Cambodian, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand. Some Vietnamese I see on 23andme have 70-90% Vietnamese and only 10-20% Chinese. I found one Vietnamese with less than 5% Chinese, and the rest Vietnamese. Any thoughts? Can it be that they are the few whom ancestors rarely mixed at all with Chinese? So they are what Vietnamese would had been like in ancient time?!
SEA breakdown:
Vietnam
Cambodia
Guam
Indonesia
Laos
Malaysia
Myanmar
Philippines
Singapore
Thailand

I would love to take 23andme test once in the near future.
Some Vietnamese members here, particularly from the North like to claim that they are unmixed and more Vietnamese, when in reality they are most likely more mixed with Chinese, and is very different from the Muong people who are said to be very similar to the Vietnamese people ancestors before outside influence. The Muong were able to isolate their genes up in the mountains and hills.
She is Vietnamese, 77% SEA. I would say she resembles the Muong people.

As more research for genetics come to light we will come to learn more about different ethnicity genetics, that includes Vietnamese people.
