Lol it's not only the Christian Church. Everyone did. The Muslims did and even you Chinese do it too. The first Emperor of China was legalist and burned books and killed intellectuals too.

First of all, there are different churches. So while the body of Vatican is in Europe the body of Protestants is in the US. The Protestant applies to what we've been saying about the modern crusades because after all we are talking about American troops as the Christians.

That's what they want the lands to stay as, Christian, because that's what it isn't even though they want it to be. So the Christians in their crusades FAILED. It just depends on your view. If you believe in separation of church and state or not. If you do then the American soldiers are just trying to do their duty as soldiers. If not then they are fighting a holy war because that's what their Church (Protestant) tells them to do. The Church (Catholic) tells its advocates to rape and molest people.
