I am for regulated use of steroids in sports. Hear me out. Steroids have a massive affect on sports performance that is why they are outlawed in most countries. The effect is so great that people often suspect an athlete is using steroids if his performance increases too fast. The overall consensus is athletes should play fair and not increase their steroids above whats natural. However, steroid levels varies from race to race with Asians having some of the lowest levels. I don't think its a coincidence that Asian men have low levels of steroids and Asian fighters are generally not known for knock out power.
If we really want a level playing field, why not regulate steroid use so that there is a maximum allowed level? Furthermore, make this level applicable to people who supplement steroids or have it occur naturally. It doesn't seem fair to allow an athlete with high levels of steroids to play just because his steroids occur naturally.
I think regulated steroid use is the fairest thing to do. It's unfair to ban it knowing that some people have more of it naturally which enhances their performance over people that don't have it naturally.
I think too much is bad but I'm talking highest normal level minus outliers. I think the negative affects will be negligible at normal athlete levels. After all, doctors routinely prescribe steroids for some patients so its not that dangerous and athletes subject themselves to all kinds of things that are bad for them anyway - it is part of the territory.
I would also add that if the problem is synthetic Vs natural steroids then by making it legal will trigger better and safer production.
