@alectmanila Um, you do know that the US & NATO are very close to exchanging nukes with Russia right? the purpose of supporting Ukraine is to push Russia as far from the Nato borderline so that nuclear exchange is avoided. Just Today U.S president Biden is talking with Nato members about how to response if Putin uses bioweapons or small tactical nukes.
So what does Ukraine-Russia war has to do with the Philippines? once the world sees that how weak or busy the United States is on the other side of the world. Iran, China, North Korea, Turkey, Venezuela & maybe Pakistan will see a opportunity to make their move.

Duterte is correct. Philippines must start training for all citizens 16 to 65. It would be wise to prepare arms depots in all barangais. This will citizens to respond fast in the event of invasion

@tristan-cruz defense treaty don't mean anything in the 21st century. Once U.S loose the economic advantage so does all the defense treaty.

@komodo Dude Philippines are not a naval power. In the game of geopolitics between great powers, you have to choose a side. That side isnt gonna be China because just look at what China did to Tibetans, Uighuyrs, etc... Slave labour, organs harvesting, women trafficking...

@komodo that is a problem. You get screwed even when you side with the US. If the US end up with wussy administration driven by leftist policy, they will drop you like a hot potato. In the end, it is still up to the country itself to elect the right leader and build up the strength. Sadly S. Vietnam did not have the leadership to stand up to the commies.

@komodo British empire is alive today because the queen of england still can call Canada, Australia & India for military aid. America never had colonies besides the Philippines so I don’t see the comparison.
