Philippine wild duck/PH mallard (the native name is "papan" or during colonial days as "pato del monte" "duck of the mountains/wilds" in 1852), only mallard specie endemically unique to the PI. Known for it's greenish blue nose, highly threatened with only a few thousand left in the wild mostly in swamps/marsh of Central and Northern Luzon (Pampanga, Ilocos etc).

It recently showed the hypocrisy of Philippine laws. When a poor Lumad was caught killing a Philippine eagle for food he was jailed (as per the law prescribed).

When a rich corrupt dynastic person like Chavit Singson kills a dozen Philippine duck for fun and posted it on Instagram, nothing happens...yet a few months later 7 poor men were caught with a dozen of these ducks and they were arrested and prosecuted.

Philippine porcupine ('landak') found only on Palawan. Nocturnal and preferred habitats are karst rock crevices and forests.
