Young volunteer reads "Ang Alamat ng Kalabaw" (The Legend of the Water Buffalo) to children of the Manobo tribe. It's sad that these kinds of things have to funded by NGO's (Mindanao Children's Library Foundation) usually founded by foreigners (this case Japanese) instead of Philippine govt. Some of the schools to educate Badjao's are funded by BRAC (Australian NGO). All the tax money = going to 'mega projects'...tsk tsk.

School in Lanao del Sur

Finally! One of the best things I've heard in a long time and worth mentioning: PAGCOR's (with DPWH and DepEd) subsidizing poor public school chidren's lunches.

This guy is a hero. Mr. San Antonio, is US engineering student who helped fund (from donation) to create this school in Bulacan. And that he plans to COMEBACK to teach? WTF? He definitely isn't your typical Pinoy. -laugh

"It hardly sounds perfect. But it’s much better than what 34-year-old Noel San Antonio grew up with in the Philippines. The public school in his hometown packs 50 to 60 students into each of its elementary school classrooms. That’s why the University of North Florida electrical engineering student founded a nonprofit foundation to support the St. Anthony Development and Learning Center. He keeps it going by scrounging up $100 here and $200 there from churches and friends. In the future, he’d like to add another building and expand classes to 12th grade."

Public school in Boracay...maybe before we fund 'mega projects' we should fund simple schools with legroom huh?
[IMG] [/IMG]

School in Zamboanga. Mega projects...can't even fund a proper 'mega wall' in a provincial public school. -laugh

These teachers = true modern heroes of the Philippines. Serving the most underserved Filipinos. Kudos and God bless.

This is from the same group of nurses I posted above, but PG blocked my hotlinking here, so here's another shot of mostly the male nurses in Philippine General Hospital 1900-10's.

I found this website of old yearbooks from American School (now known as International School of Manila)
http://www.aisaam.org/kawayan/index.htm

Wow...I'm surprised their yearbook posts are like 'liberal' compared to the same that would've been published in Manila in those days.
