I and my girls are thinking about visiting the Philippines, I have a friend who is a Filipina but she has never stepped foot in the Philippines.
I am looking for the best nightclubs, tourist spots, beaches & restaurants.
thanks.

The Chinese from the mainland have infested The Philippines & Thailand. I suggest staying away from them & Vietnamese will try to milk the money out of you.
I was told that one of the best places in Palawan for foreigners. It's highly recommended by my military friends.
The Philippines used to be our commonwealth territory just like the Samoan Islands, Hawaii, Cuba & Puerto Rico
It's why there are so many Filipinos in our army.
I checked it, it doesn't have a nightlife compared to the bigger cities. It has a few bars but that's it
Try to avoid India, Vietnam. Don't expect the rest of Asia to think like the Filipinos. Most of them just want our money. India has a high rate of rape crimes & Vietnam is known for scamming foreigners.
My friends have been to India and they told me that toilets are hard to find.
When you arrived at the airport in Manila, you'll eventually have to take the public transportation such as the taxi. There's two types of taxi. The yellow taxi is usually more expensive than the Grab car or white taxi however clarify the price with the airport employees. The Grab car is equivalent to an Uber or lyft in U.S.
If you travel around Manila/Makati area then I recommend taking a Grab car instead since it's overall cheaper. You could either call from the hotel or wave one down as it passes by on the road. Both the yellow and Grab(white) taxis are considered metered taxis however the taxi driver will sometimes strike a deal with you and I usually take the deal since it's cheaper during heavy traffic. On the other hand, I usually accept the meter charge if my destination is nearby or there's low traffic. If the taxi driver doesn't offer a deal, then your ride will be a meter charge. Please do make sure he turns on the meter because most taxi rides begin with a drop charge. From there on, the taxi driver will either charge by time or distance. And ask the taxi driver if it's possible to take the skyway which is equivalent to a freeway or highway and therefore you could save some time and pay less especially when there's constant traffic. However the skyway does have a toll fee entrance and/or exit - still cheaper overall especially in heavy traffic.
It's customary to tip the taxi driver afterwards - maybe around 50 to 100 pesos which is equivalent to 1 to 2 U.S. dollars only.
Remember to bring the luggage with you when exiting the taxi. Some people have forgotten to remove their luggage at the back of the trunk after a long busy ride in a congested traffic and unfortunately most of them weren't able to recover their luggage.
It's recommended to exchange your dollars to pesos as most places will not accept foreign currency. Tourist normally go to Western Union because they usually have good exchange rates. Always exchange with high currency instead of low currency because they'll give you a better exchange rate. For example the exchange rate today is 1 dollar to 49 pesos which is a good deal for tourist. If you exchange low numbers such as 20 dollars or 10 dollars than they'll probably lower the exchange rate to 1 dollar to 40 pesos. On the other hand, if you give them higher numbers than the exchange rate goes up to 1 dollar to 49 pesos.
Remember to exchange the pesos back to dollars when you head back to America.
Check your signal on your cellphone. Sometimes in certain areas there will be no signal. Since you're in a major city and tourist spot then you'll probably won't have to be concern.
lol. If you're taking a ferry ride to Boracay, then you'll have signal. The ride only takes 10 to 15 minutes from Caticlan to Boracay.
Hopefully you have signal. If there are no signals, then ask where the nearest internet cafes are located on the island. Internet cafes are convenient public places to use their computers with a small fee hourly charge.
Thank you for your travel tops or should I say Salamat po :). I will save your tips on my phone.
We are just thinking about using Uber or something similar to UBer if we can't find yellow taxis.

I suggest you travel with your boyfriend or a male relative. Just make sure that you have some male presence with you. Night Clubs are full of predators, I'm sure you know that.
@marneil
We are coming as a group, so we are safe.
thanks for the concern.
Beach resort = Boracay
one of my favorites is the Royal Night Club
Location: 5343 St, General Luna, Makati, 1210 Metro Manila, Philippines
Open: Monday–Thursday from 10pm to 6am, Friday–Sunday from 6pm to 6am
Phone: +63 (0)2 831 0184
@j-r-c
The Boracay beach has very good reviews, are there any night clubs near that area? I can't find anything using google.
Club Paraw is the night club that Filipinos and tourist usually party at in Boracay. The night club is located in Station 1. Even though the floor space is large and it has a second floor, the night club attracts a large crowd that stays up until early morning. The place is called Paraw Beach Club.
@prau123
Have you been there before?
Boracay is on our target,
looks safe and fun place for tourist.
I have been there before. The place is always jam packed with tourist from all over the world.
It doesn't matter what season you go, there are always a lot of tourist visiting Boracay and it's safe. They've made it even more safer for people since 2018.
There's also American fast-food restaurants and coffee shops on the beachfront and downtown.
Do not drink tap water or else you'll get gastrointestinal illness for the next 24 to 48 hours. Only drink bottled waters. Bottled waters are purified water that you can purchase at the local market, restaurants and vendors. In restaurants, order bottled water instead because their glass of water is tap water and the ice cube is also made of tap water. If you need to buy medicine or visit a doctor then Hospitals and pharmaceutical drugs stores are some times nearby.
Btw, washing clothes are some times inconvenient because coin laundromats are not always available, please check the hotels if they provide those services and their rates.
@prau123
They serve bottled water on the beaches from what I was told. It's very common to have coconut juice especially the market.
We will probably just get our water from the hotel
It does appear that you're ready for this vacation. Have fun!
The coconut juice are quite refreshing after a hot summer day on the beach. However please don't stay underneath a coconut tree to shade yourself from the sun because the coconuts do fall down hard like bowling balls.
Some restaurants and bars during the day become nightclubs at night. Since 2018, nightlife such as nightclubbing are only available during Friday and Saturday nights.
Maybe they've brought nightclubbing back to every night but you should verify with them.
Thanks, We are not going night clubbing every night. weekends and Wednesday are most likely our target. It really depends on the events that will see.
Boracay is open for tourism since yesterday June 16th. Probably a good time to find out the schedule and price of the airfare and hotel rates. If you're going directly to Boracay, then you do have to take a connecting flight from the city Manila to Caticlan airport on the island of Panay. From there you take a ferry boat ride from the terminal to Boracay however it's mandatory since 2018 that tourist are required to book a hotel night stay before arriving to Boracay.
https://news.mb.com.ph/2020/06/11/boracay-reopens-on-june-16/
Boracay has remained COVID-free since the pandemic erupted. But Puyat said health and safety protocols in the island were already in place prior to its reopening.
She said tourists will have to undergo the usual temperature checks, mandatory wearing of masks, and other safety protocols imposed by the LGU and DOT to visit Boracay.
Boracay water safe
If you are still going to El Nido, then it's among the next tourist spots to be reopened which may suggest that other tourist places such as Coron and Bohol will be reopening next month also.
https://www.gulf-times.com/story/666107/Presidential-adviser-calls-for-greater-reopening-o
On Tuesday, Boracay Island opened its doors to visitors, but exclusively for residents from the Western Visayas. According to Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat, Bohol and El Nido, Palawan are the next tourist spots to be opened to local travelers.
You're island hopping, the next thing you know - you'll end up being the tour guide.
You'll be arriving at Puerto Princesa Airport, Palawan Island before taking a public transportation ride to El Nido. I've seen videos on the drive from Puerto Princesa to El Nido and it's a roller coaster ride for the next 5 to 6 hours whether you take the bus ride or the shuttle van ride.
are you planning to give everyone the coronavirus? 😛
wouldn't she have to be tested like 3 times and quarantined for 2 weeks?
btw has she checked the price of plane tickets recently..
NO Dum Dum, I don't have the corona virus. We are just planning to what to do after this pandemic is over. Most of us are sick and tired of being locked inside our house.
I checked a few sites and they recommended these beaches. The beaches with plentiful of activities, restaurants and nightlife are Boracay and Puerto Galera. If you're looking for unspoiled beaches, then it's recommended by several sites to have first-timers visit Coron, El Nido, and Camiguin. Beaches in Cebu Island are also well-known and visited by tourist. There are several beaches worth visiting throughout Philippines - if you have the time to do so. The beaches are open to the public throughout the year. Peak season for tourist is February and it's recommended to make reservations.
Does Coron, El nido and Camiguin have night clubs? EL nido seems like the most attractive.
I like Puerto Galara but the night clubs look like it caters to trannys.
I briefly checked their sites and it appears Coron has one named Arkham while El Nido has also one named Pukka. I don't see anything in Camiguin.
Some times these night clubs are not listed. One way to find out is to arrive at the place. Once you're there, then you might want to ask the locals or the person at the hotel desk where they are located and the nightly schedule of operation. Usually these night clubs are situated where tourist are staying at. Some events are only open on weekends and some only open during peak season.
Thanks, I might ask the travel guide. I would not visit the place if there is no information available for foreign tourist. EL Nido looks really nice.
Thank you advise. I highly appreciate it 😀
Please ask the travel guide because the tourist spots in the Philippines are in lockdown. You might want to know when El Nido will be open for tourism. They may allow only a limited number of tourist. The international and domestic flights are probably still closed.
The foreign tourist that were on Boracay a few months ago are still stranded on the island when the lockdown was declared. Maybe in another few months they would be able to leave the island and return to their country. As of now, they are enjoying their time in Boracay for the last 3 months. Boracay and other tourist destination spots are only accepting local tourist at the moment.
July to August is fine - a month before the typhoon season begins.
If you stay until September, then you'll get a glimpse of Christmas. Christmas Holiday is from Sept. 1 to Jan. 6 ....Philippines has the longest Christmas Season.
Typhoons occurs all the time and yet tourist still travel to Manila and Boracay in Philippines. There are several foreign tourist visiting Philippines in July and August.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typhoons_in_the_Philippines
On an annual time scale, activity reaches a minimum in May, before increasing steadily to June, and spiking from July to September, with August being the most active month for tropical cyclones in the Philippines. Activity reduces significantly in October.
IMPORTANT
Please ask the travel guide about the 14-day quarantine procedure for all international travelers arriving to the Philippines. Travelers from abroad that arrived to the Philippines will undergo testing and spend a few days or the next 2 weeks quarantined either at home or at a local monitoring medical facility. Travelers will have to pay the cost for their quarantine accommodation. If you're tested negative then you're allowed to continue on your travel.
https://www.philippineairlines.com/en/aboutus/newsandevents/advisory-covid19-11may20-58
PHL Local Time: 11 May 2020
To All International Passengers Arriving in the Philippines:
The Philippine government is implementing stricter quarantine and testing procedures for all arriving passengers, effective immediately, under a new directive from the Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19.Upon arrival, all passengers will undergo a swab test (RT PCR Covid 19 testing) to be performed by trained personnel from the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ).
While awaiting test results, passengers must stay either in a government-designated stringent quarantine facility or in a BOQ approved quarantine hotel.
Payment for accommodation in a government-designated quarantine facility shall be based on the following guidelines:1. For land-based OFWs, the cost shall be shouldered by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration;
2. For sea-based OFWs, cost shall be shouldered by the Maritime Industry Authority or by the local manning agency;
3. All other travelers (Filipino or foreign nationals), who are non-OFWs, will pay for the cost of their accommodation.
Accommodation in a BOQ-approved quarantine hotel will be to passengers' own cost, regardless if they are OFWs or not.
Travelers whose test results are positive will be transferred to a designated hospital for further medical management.
Travelers whose test results are negative will be allowed to move out and undergo a 14-day quarantine at home or at an appropriate local monitoring facility.
For more details and information on these new requirements and related concerns, you may call the government's One Stop Shop hotline number +63 9161019964.
These new procedures and requirements are meant to protect your health and safety. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Boracay and other tourist spots are only accepting local tourist but not international tourist.
Eventually they have to open up because a large portion of their revenue comes from travelers from abroad. We'll see in the next few weeks if they reduce the total amount of time it takes to be quarantined and also see if the vacation spots are open for international tourist.
I took a test like a month ago and we all tested negative. I guess we will take another test before we take a flight.
Good to hear however you and your companions will eventually have to take another test once you arrived in Manila.
Like America and other countries, Philippines has seen a rise in the number of infected with the coronavirus in the last few weeks. Although some stores and restaurants have reopened there are still several that have not. They want to flattened the curve as early as possible to allow locals and tourist to start shopping again.
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/philippines/
https://www.eturbonews.com/575917/tourism-in-the-philippines-when-will-it-be-safe-again/
When will the Philippines reopen?
It remains highly uncertain when the Philippines will reopen to tourists, with several resorts opting against throwing the doors wide again when the government initially relaxed a ban on tourism activities.
The daily infection rate remains high in the country, leading to further hesitance to open up the country again, with the recent relaxing of lockdown measures having appeared to have had a negative impact and a vaccine yet to be found.
It maybe safe to travel to the Philippines in the next few months however that depends on how low the number of people being infected with the coronavirus every week.
There are 4 classifications of quarantine in Philippines. The classification only began in July 15 and it will continue until July 31.
Starting from the highest to the lowest. The highest being the most restrictive enhanced community quarantined.
1) MECQ (Modified Enhanced Community Quarantined).
2) GCQ (General Community Quarantined)
Manila is among those cities.
3) MGCQ (Modified General Community Quarantined) which are areas that are considered "medium risk".
Boracay is among those places.
4) MGCQ (Modified General Community Quarantined) "Low Risk".
El Nido is among those places. This is the safest vacation spot to visit in the Philippines at the moment. All areas on the Palawan Island belongs to this category.
In major cities, the worst hit was Cebu City which is also a major tourist spot. It was the only city that was classified as MECQ (Modified Enhanced Community Quarantined) which is the highest on the scale.
El NIDO seems cheap and the people seems very nice.
what do you call these boats that you guys use? seems like a fun experience to island hop 😍
The type of boat is called a Baroto however Filipinos will normally call it Bangka which is a general term for boat whether with or without an outrigger.
It would be nice if the Philippines have Yachts for Island hoping. Your tourism industry will surpass Thailand & France.
Yes, it would be nice.
We have some however the government won't allow them in some tourist destinations. In Boracay, yachts are not allowed to be up close to the beach shore and they won't allow several yachts to dock off either. Since 2018 Boracay has reduce the number of yachts allowed in order to reduce pollution and thereby preserving the environment. The tourist have to arrive on the island by taking a ferry with an overnight hotel purchase.
However there are other tourist spots that do allow yachts to go island hopping and docking off at a marina or harbor. Here are some and eventually they'll have more marinas in other islands in the next few years.
Cebu
Puerto Galera
most of south east asia have ferry boats, it would be nice if Philippines have done the same.
They usually don't have tickets available online. The customers have to book a ferry ride at the terminal.
Bangka without outriggers is usually used near shores and rivers.
I usually see bangka with outriggers in deep water. The waves are unpredictable and without outriggers the boat would easily capsize. Bangka with outriggers is used for island hopping, deep water fishing and transporting a load. Bangka that carries tourist passengers usually has a motor and outriggers on both sides .
Give me time, I will ask my friends.
I have visited the Philippines When I was a teenager, I wasn't old enough back then to be clubbing at 3 am.
