I'm not surprised you don't know what filipinos eat LOL/ what our dishes are. It seems to NOT be the most popular of cuisines under the Asian/SE-Asian umbrella. I know in the U.S. Americans there seemed to be more familiar with Thai Southeast Asian food than with Filipino food. And of course everyone pretty much knows that Chinese and Japanese food is way more popular than filipino food all around the world haha

There isn't much Filipino restaurant despite the fact that there are millions of your kind around here.

Colonial mentality. Filipinos don't think our food is good enough since our Spanish and American colonizers drummed up the notion that their food is superior to ours'. Yet, Filipino food is the world's first Fusion cuisine.

I had Filipino food before, it's like Asia meets Indo-European cuisine. They have a lot of Portuguese influence.
