the Philippine politicians have a naive thinking of Asian brotherhood with East Asians. they blamed the US navy presence as Provocative towards WW2. Duterte already tried to befriend the Chinese and it went nowhere for the last 6 years. Now, it looked like the Philippine government will more towards the QUAD alliance with US navy returning to the Philippines.
