Asian Customer Called “Ch*nk” on Receipt at a Popeyes in San Jose

A Popeyes in San Jose allegedly called an Asian customer a “ch*nk” on his receipt, according to a tweet posted by KPIX reporter Betty Yu.

The customer originally posted about the incident in an old Reddit thread on March 2. He said that he had emailed corporate, but had been ignored.

In a new Reddit thread posted on Wednesday, the customer said he received a response from the restaurant’s manager that he was satisfied with.

“It was an honest mistake–she misheard my name, which is one letter short of the racial slur,” the customer wrote in his post.

He asked Reddit users to stop harassing the cashier or other workers at the store.

“The cashier’s husband left me a message saying that she’s now getting death threats,” the customer wrote. “That’s unacceptable to me. Please don’t harass her or anybody at the store.”
