A lawsuit has been filed in connection with the police shooting death of a 49-year-old man during a drug bust, reports Hopclear.

Body cam footage released by the Chino Police Department near Los Angeles shows officers entering a marijuana grow house with guns drawn. Police can be heard several times warning that if anyone is in the home they should come out or risk being harmed.

When police spot Li Xi Wang hiding behind a door, a shot is fired while almost simultaneously an officer is heard yelling “let me see your hands, dude.”

The incident happened on July 3.

“He’s a single father, helping his son, he has an aging mom in China, and he did everything he can as a father, as a son, to take care of the family,” attorney Daniel Deng said, according to CNN.

Police confiscated nearly 1,500 marijuana plants, $35,000 in cash and found evidence of grand theft in excess of $105,000. No weapons were found.

The family’s attorneys say Wang was hired to take care of the home and was not a drug dealer.

Investigations into the shooting are being conducted by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the district attorney’s office, and the Chino Police Department.
