A restaurant owner from Tukwila, Washington, is speaking out after being shot 11 times, Q13 Fox reports.

Tony So was closing up his restaurant, Palace Korean BBQ, around 9:45 p.m. on June 4. He walked one of his female employees to her car, something he does to make sure his female employees are safe.

A few minutes later, when So walked to his car he was confronted by the suspect who held a gun.

“Almost immediately as I sat down, the gun was in my neck,” So told Q13Fox. “Without even thinking, I grabbed the gun. He said something to me, but I don’t remember. I just wanted the gun out of my face.”

So was then shot 11 times. Police say that the shooting occurred in the 200 block of Strander Boulevard, KOMO News reports. The suspects are two men and a woman. They believe it was an attempted robbery, although the suspects did not take anything.

Family members have set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for So’s medical expenses. So will remain in a wheelchair for six months, but he plans to live life to the fullest.

“I’m not going to waste it,” So told Q13 Fox. “I don’t want to live in hate, I just want to be happy. I don’t need much anymore. I realize that now. I don’t need anything. I just need the love of my family.”
