Do Italians have Black ancestry?
Do Italians have Black ancestry?
No, that's a misinformation going around the internet, we don't have black ancestry in our DNA. We do however have black immigrants in Italy.
then explain this
The progenitors of Italians are generally Indo-European speakers (for example Italic people groups, for example, the Latins, Umbrians, Samnites, Oscans, and Adriatic Veneti,
just as admixture from Celts in the north and from Greeks in the south) and pre-Indo-European speakers (the Etruscans, Rhaetians, Camunni, Ligurians in northern and focal Italy, and the Nuragic people groups in Sardinia)
The Out of Africa model suggest that everyone was from Africa but indigenous people today in their countries outside of Africa have been tested and majority of the people including Italians show only a small percentage.
There were few Africans in southern parts maybe because Roman Empire ruled Ethiopia, Sudan, Somalia and even in ww II.
Everyone outside of Africa will have small percentage but most only show 1% or less, this is well known,
that's a small evidence that blacks have been in Southern Europe and middle east.
Posted by: @navalthat's a small evidence that blacks have been in Southern Europe and middle east.
The genes have been diluted for several centuries and several generations ever since as they continue to interbreed with their own kind in Southern Europe or Middle east and therefore the genetic results today would only result to 1% or less.
It's not even worth entertaining. I think I know who we are. You sound like you want to be black so bad.
how about the evidence provided by Mauro Veleri? I'm just curious because I hear many blacks claiming that Italians have African DNA. I hope you don't see me as trolling.
Southern Italians are closer to Greeks from Greek Isles compared to their relatives on the mainland of Greece.
https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-017-01802-4
Our results reveal a shared Mediterranean genetic continuity, extending from Sicily to Cyprus, where Southern Italian populations appear genetically closer to Greek-speaking islands than to continental Greece.
Italians and Southern Europeans are dark because there's more sunlight throughout the year in those regions compared to the rest of Europe.
Rome has a history with Africans yet the history was erased because black lives don't matter.
They do have history with the Africans as well as other groups since Roman Empire basically encompassed much of Europe and any surrounding lands around the Mediterranean Sea. They brought some of these foreigners to Rome to build some of the structures and to fight in Gladiator events. Rome was the capital of the western parts of the Old World and it attracted people from far reaches of the globe however this megalopolis city was in rival with Carthage at the time and this prevented several exchanges with several sub-Saharan groups. Eventually Romans conquered Carthage during the last Punic wars but they only ruled the lands close to the Mediterranean Sea because below that is the Saharan desert. African folks are from sub-Sahara which is not part of the empire of the time except Ethiopia, Sudan, Somalia which is right next to the Red Sea where trade and migration occurs frequently. The history with Africans were not erase, there are depictions of them on the walls of some structures. The people of today do recognize them.
The problem here is black history isn't taught in schools. white washing of black history in Egypt is a good example.
Highs school history is basically the events that happened in American history. They do discuss briefly on some ethnic groups but it doesn't get into the specific history of each ethnic group.
Colleges do have courses on cultural studies and humanities classes. Students had to take these subjects as part of their general education requirement. They taught us the different ethnic groups history in America including Native American Indians before 1492.
The humanity course did taught the black history. They talked about Booker T Washington, Martin Luther King Jr., W.E.B. Du Bois, Frederick Douglass.
Ancient history in North African history is lost for the most part. They basically interpret what they've found and some are possibly right, some are debatable and some are possibly wrong. However base on the depictions on the walls, effigies or statues, they look middle-easterners or possibly Indian(India). There were some sub-Saharan Africans. The sub-Saharan African civilization is the Nubian civilization in Sudan.
European explorer used to cut off the noses from the Egypt statues because Europeans could not accept a black Pharaoh
this cutting off noses or defacing of statues occurred long before Europeans were there, the rulers would do this intentionally to erase religion or rulers therefore rewriting history whether sub-Saharan or north African.
My previous statement doesn't deny Europeans were defacing or cutting off noses, my statement is saying that there were people there before the Europeans that started this. The Europeans carried on this well into the 19th century.
Do you consider yourself black? have you looked at yourself in the mirror?
I consider myself supporter of the BLM, You don't need to be black to understand the suffering of others.
Parmigiana is my favorite Italian dish, most Italians reside in Ontario, there aren't much Italians in my area.
I would love to visit Italy someday 😍
I eat Parmigiana with rice. I'm familiar with the Chicken Parmigiana and I've tried eggplant Parmigiana once before. I haven't ate this cuisine quite some time actually.
Racism against Asians is at an all-time high not just in Italy but in Western Europe. Generally, Filipinos don't look like East Asians.
Rome and Milan would be the safest city at the moment since they have a sizeable Filipino population.
We generally don't have anything against Filipinos, Its only after the coronavirus when Anti-Asian sentiment arose. Filipinos don't create Chinatown like the Chinese who refused to integrate. Filipino usually work as domestic helpers over here.
Filipinos are not ethnocentric and we're mildly nationalistic and regionalistic. We are less conservative compared to other Asian groups. Filipino cultural lifestyle is liberal in comparison to others and that's why we integrate. We are open to different people and culture as long as they are similar.
Chinese in Italy do not have a good reputation. I cannot even enter Chinatown 😨 . however, doing business with China is the target of our government.
Besides Filipinos are there Pacific Islanders such as Polynesians and other Southeast Asians somewhere residing in your locale?
We never seen Pacific Islanders, Europe is not the United States. I have seen Vietnamese in France and more Filipinos in Greece.
I guess Filipinos in Italy are not being confused with other Southeast Asians unlike here in America where Filipinos are usually mistaken as Hispanics, Pacific Islanders or other Southeast Asians.
I only realize that you spell and pronounce Filipinos in Italian with a double consonant that ends with a vowel.
Filipino = Filippino
Filipina = Filippina
Philippines = Filippine (feminine), Filippini (masculine)
Have you ever seen Cardinal Pio Taofinu'u before? A Samoan (Polynesian).
Cardinal Pio Taofinu'u
Filipinos like to sing and dance to modern music, but we also have traditional cultural dances.
I'm guessing some Filipinos in Italy are learning the Tarantella Dance ( Tarantula - Spider Dance ).
Tarantella Dance Festival in Puglia, Italy
America use to celebrate Columbus Day on the second Monday of October which is October 12th, 2020. The holiday has been replaced with Native American Indian history and culture. However there are some institutions that are close on Columbus Day such as Banks and it's considered a Bank Holiday.
Italy only began celebrating Columbus Day in 2004.
Do they celebrate Columbus Day in Italy?
In Italy, Columbus Day has been officially celebrated since 2004. It is officially named Giornata nazionale di Cristoforo Colombo.
My dad named me after a Italian City of the Tuscany region, he took me to a place where I was named after 😍 when I was a child . Heart of the Renaissance really describes my character.
I experience in Italy have been very positive.
Were your siblings named after cities also? If so, your dad probably brought them to those places as well.
I want to visit Venice, Florence, Rome, Sicily and Milan. Italy has very strong regional cultures much like the Philippines. My nephews especialy want to visit Sicily..
What are the best months to go to Italy?
The best months for traveling in much of Italy are from April to June and mid-September to October: Temperatures are usually comfortable, rural colors are rich, and the crowds aren't too intense (except around Easter). From July through early September the country's holiday spots teem with visitors
Do they have siestas in Italy?
Siesta was also common in Italy, where it is called riposo in Northern Italy and pennichella or pisolino in Southern Italy. Many museums, churches and shops close during midday (from 12:00–1:30 pm to 2:30–4:00 pm) so that proprietors can go home for lunch and sometimes a nap during the day's hottest hours.
When I was studying under a Spanish Religiois Order we had Siestas and we didnt entertain business from 1 to 2 PM.
Philippines should bring back the siestas. It's healthy for people to take naps and to avoid the afternoon heat. Several countries in Latin Europe and Latin America have gone away with Siestas also.
Posted by: @selurongWhen I was studying under a Spanish Religiois Order we had Siestas and we didnt entertain business from 1 to 2 PM.
1 to 2 PM are the same as lunch break hours here in the states however only some people are taking naps. It's a mini-siesta version.
Italian cities that you mentioned are several kilometers apart from each other, the locals and tourist prefer to take the Eurail or bus ride and then take the taxi ride within the city.
Do they have Uber in Italy? The Philippines used to have Uber before they pulled out ofthe market.
Uber was replaced with Grab cars in Philippines.
Philippines
Where is grab available in the Philippines?Aside from Subic, Grab is also available in 11 cities in the Philippines, namely Manila, Cebu, Davao, Pampanga, Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, Baguio, Bataan, Naga, Iloilo, and Tacloban. 2018
Is grab 24 hours in Philippines?MANILA – The food and package delivery services of Grab Philippines (Grab) will be available 24 hours in Metro Manila starting Wednesday (September 16). Sep 15, 2020
Italy
Yes, you can Uber in Italy but it's not the same. It's only available in Rome and Milan. Additionally, only Uber Black is available, meaning higher prices and nicer vehicles. If you don't mind the slight price increase, then Uber is perfectly safe to use in Italy. July 27, 2020
I wanted to travel Sicily. I want to visit that Norman Cathedral with mixed architecture on it. The one with Arabic Script, Byzantine Vaults, Romanesque columns and French-Norman Ironworks.
There are Filipinos living here, they have tour guide to help Filipino tourist with any of the travelling needs. Most of the Filipinos over here are in Rome
Yes, there are Filipinos in most of the region you have mention. It's very easy to spot Filipino presence because of the Filipino restaurants & the Asiatic looks. It won't be hard for you to discover the location by just using google. The Filipinos are mostly domestic workers to local Italians and the rest are usually tourist.
Do you know the name of the Cathedral? It does appear as if it was constructed more than once or one after another by several different ethnic groups who were there in separate time periods.
It aint just a Cathedral but many buildings.
well, I just went by what you said Norman Cathedral.
Maybe they have a Filipino priest there by now.
Priests and Nurses are in demand.
Maybe they do have a Filipino Priest, but I doubt a Filipino Mass in Tagalog.
It wouldbe easy for Filipino Priests to learn to speak Italian since its cloae to the Latin language we used to study in Seminaries.
Some Filipinos could speak Spanish and Chavacano fluently, because they were taught early on and they were surrounded with people that spoke it. Italian and Spanish are similar, but it would take some time to be a fluent speaker in Italian which means that Filipinos have to learn it early on the same way they learn to speak fluent Spanish and Chavacano. The Filipino Priests in Italy are more likely born in Italy or grew up there and therefore he would be able to speak fluent Italian as well as their local dialect which is probably what he preaches at Mass. In Italy, they do have 30 plus dialects.
I heard that the Tuscan Dialect/Language is the most musical and poetic variety of Italian.
Sardinian is jokingly reffered to as the most attrocious Italic language.
I personally like the sounds of Piedmontese and Franco-Provencal.
It appears that you'll be spending more time in the northern provinces instead since you prefer their languages/dialects but I guess you would still want to visit the Cathedral in Palermo.
I actually like Southern Italy more. Naples is known from Greek influence while Sicily has Arab and African. Whereas the North is more Germanic.
Filipinos epscially those from Manila and Mindanao can jive with Sicilians since we like them were former Muslims who converted or reverted to Christianity.
Since Sicily was once the site of the Emirate of Sicily and Manila was under the Brunei Sultanate and some parts of Mindanao were under the Maguindanao and Sulu Sultanates before they became Spanish territories.
Northern Italy is still Italian culturally and architecturally. Northern Italians are closer ethnically to Spanish and Southern French while Southern Italians are predominantly Greeks from the Islands in Greece. They do have ethnic influences from other groups from the Mediterranean Sea.
The car and agricultural industries are usually located in the northern parts in Italy. Their lifestyle is more busier than compared to the laid back lifestyle of the south. Southern Italy grows several olives.
I think you are mistaken, it is Southern Italy which has French and Spanish influence.
The Normans who conquered Sicily were French speaking whereas the Lombards where Germanic speakers.
Likewise the Spanish subkingdom called the Crown of Aragon which then ruled Milan, Sicily and Naples had terrritories mostly in Southern Italy.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_history_of_Italy
Southern Italians are closest to the Greeks (as the historical region of Magna Graecia, "Great Greece", bears witness to),[21] while the Northern Italians are closest to the Spaniards and southern French
scroll to 55 seconds
I see, Northern Italy is indeed close to France ancestrally while Southern Italy has African, Arab and Greek admixture.
