Pyongyang was once called the Jerusalem of East Asia. Christianity played a crucial role in introducing egalitarianism to Korean society, at which time was a Confucian-based caste society with majority being slaves.

@saltech

I was wondering about this.

Confucianism, also known as Ruism, is a system of thought and behavior originating in ancient China. Variously described as tradition, a philosophy, a religion, a humanistic or rationalistic religion, a way of governing, or simply a way of life,[1] Confucianism developed from what was later called the Hundred Schools of Thought from the teachings of the Chinese philosopher Confucius (551–479 BCE).

In China unlike Korea Confucianism is anti-nobility.

Since 7th century, studying Confucianism can advance you into the ruling class.

Promotes virtue over birth.

It's against disorder and war caused by too much ambition.
