Taiwan ( republic of China) was our ally against Imperial Japan in ww2. If China controls Taiwans, China will have gateway entrance to the pacific ocean.
2) it will put Guam, Okinawan, samoan islands U.S navy bases in danger.

semiconductor is needed to most electronics but that's not the point. the point is Taiwan isn't a scrub.
