Hanoi resolutely objects to Taiwan’s live-fire exercises in the waters around Ba Binh (Itu Aba) Island, part of Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago in the East Vietnam Sea, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Friday.

The ministry’s spokesperson, Le Thi Thu Hang, made the statement in response to media’s questions about Vietnam’s reactions to the live-fire drills conducted by Taiwan on June 28 and 29 in the said waters.

Hang stressed that the drills seriously violated Vietnam’s territorial sovereignty over Truong Sa, and threatened peace, stability, safety, and security of navigation in the East Vietnam Sea.

They also triggered tensions and complicated the situation in the waters, the spokeswoman stated, adding that Vietnam requests that Taiwan not repeat similar actions in the future.

Vietnam’s stance, which has consistently been affirmed for years, is to oppose any live-fire drills ran by Taiwan in the waters that belong to Vietnam’s Truong Sa archipelago, the spokesperson said.

As reported on Thursday by Taiwanese media, Taiwan’s Coast Guard finished its live-fire exercises around Ba Binh a day earlier.

Taiwanese authorities illegally established a no-fly zone and banned vessels from operating in the waters during the drills.

Taiwan had used domestically developed Kestrel anti-tank guns in the exercises and had deployed such weapons on Ba Binh Island, according to unverified reports.

Ba Binh, the largest natural island in Truong Sa, has been occupied unlawfully by Taiwan since 1956.

@athena From my understanding If Taiwan renounces China south china sea claims mean Independence from China. It won't be long until Taiwan Officially becomes Independent and maybe join Japan voluntarily maybe if Donald Trump is reelected so I don't know.

@athena not quite sure what you meant but I don't think Taiwan is part of the claimants. the war for the Champa sea & senkaku islands will take place in Taiwan real soon.

@zexsypmp23 yes, they are and they have occupied it since 1946. They even sided with China for their claim. They are Chinese after all. So you think if tw is able to own spratley islands they would be independent from China? I don’t think so. They are independent now.

@athena Those Taiwanese openly admitted making Austronesians minority in their own land. Now, they had a fucking nerve to claim the ASEAN Sea.

@athena You are right. Taiwan should be cut off from ASEAN too.

In addition to the position of Taiwan which reiterated its rejection of all decisions of the arbitral tribunal, the Taiwanese Authority submitted the following statement of attitude. The first statement of position is that Taiwan has ownership rights over the islands in the South China Sea and relevant waters in accordance with internationallawand applicable sea law, in this case islands and waters that beyond dispute. Since the arbitration court did not formally invite Taiwan to participate in the trial process, the court also did not support and reinforce Taiwan's views so that the ruling did not have binding legal force against Taiwan.

The Taiwanese government has repeatedly declared the South China Sea islands to be part of Taiwan's territory and that Taiwan will take decisive action to improve the country's territory and relevant maritime rights.

@zexsypmp23 Donald Trump renamed Asia-Pacific into Indo Pacific. Now, we need him to rename South China Sea into Champa Sea and make it officially recognized worldwide. Another alternative would be ASEAN Sea, Austronesian Sea, Indo Sea, Austroasiatic Sea, Tai Sea 😀

@james Champa Sea means it's Vietnamese ocean. and Chinese can claim Vietnamese are really Chinese.

Anyway, ASEAN SEA would be the top choice but so far international sea is most accepted in the international community.

@athena Taiwanese wiped out the native Austronesians. If we don't stop Chinese migration then we will suffer the same fate.

@james The blame goes to the ASEAN leaders for being naive. Once the trade order has been reestablished means overseas Chinese in ASEAN go home & ASEAN people leave the Sinosphere. It's already happening here in the U.S & China too is preparing to cut ties with the West.

@zexsypmp23 lol capitalist love money. It won't be long until some greedy capitalist find loopholes within the trade restrictions. Instead of drugs pushers, made in China smugglers will take over the black Market.

@james the Vietnamese commie coolies already did that and got trade restriction imposed against them. Viet commies are dumb. I think during an embargo, they were selling Chinese steel, relabeled made in Vietnam. Too stupid to make their own steel. They had to be pimped out by Chinese commies.

@athena interesting, if our Tsinoys from the Philippines isn't controlled then we might face the consequences like Vietnam 😲. Chinese-Filipino are well known to be importing Chinese goods.

Taiwanese are still Chinese even if they are democratic. South Koreans are the same as North Koreans. If Kpop takes over the world. North Korea will claim glory to all Koreans.

This is what they taught their kids in 1938

This is a 1938 map of ‘China’s shame’ authorised by the Ministry of the Interior of the Republican Government which shows the areas torn from China by imperialists—European and Japanese.  The ‘lost’ Chinese territories on this map include not only the Russian Far East, the Ryukyus, Taiwan and the South China Sea, but also Korea, mainland SEA (Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, the Malay Peninsula, Singapore and Myanmar), Nepal, parts of Pakistan and most of Central Asia.
