This is a thread for asian movies that gave a strong impression to members of this forum. This thread is purely for entertainment and will ideally have no politics involved.
The first movie that I will post is a classing Zhang Yimou film that had a uniquely haunting ambience that really draws you in the story and captures the period in history it took place in. This movie shows the hardships that women under concubinage have gone through in China during the 1920s.

Raise the Red Lantern
Teenage Songlian (Gong Li), whose family has been devastated by the recent death of her father, becomes the third concubine of wealthy Master Chen (Ma Jingwu). She soon discovers that behind the palatial luxury of life in the master's house, she and her fellow concubines, Zhuoyan (Cao Cuifeng) and Meishan (He Caifei), are pitted against each other in a struggle for his affections. The situation inevitably leads to deception, jealous rages and the revelation of each other's darkest secrets.
Majority of the filipinos do not watch Chinese movies
I highly enjoyed the Netflix series "Bangkok Breaking", and you can watch it for free on FMovies.. it's gritty with good thrills and setting
Edit: but overall my favorite movie genre is horror/supernatural/religious.. and I enjoyed the Thai film "Deep" and the Tagalog film "Pwera Usog" which I all saw recently
I've been enjoying Asian movies more than Hollywood movies lately
