it's not a maybe.. it s fact  that one of the Los angeles founders is filipino .. it's officially recognize by the U.S government & state of california... even barack obama made a letter .

also there were also filipinos that settled in louisiana in 17th century and fought against the british... which i will post in different thread.

Philippines only became a common wealth of america in the early 19th century.

Wikipedia

Filipino Mexicans are Mexican citizens who are descendants of Filipino ancestry.[1] There are approximately 1,200 Filipino nationals residing in Mexico.[2] In addition to this, genomic studies indicate that about a third of people sampled from Guerrero have Asian ancestry; with genetic markers matching those of the populations of Indonesia and the Philippines.[3]

Most of their Filipino ancestors arrived in Mexico during the Spanish colonial period. For two and a half centuries, between 1565 and 1815, many Filipinos and Mexicans sailed to and from Mexico and the Philippines as sailors, crews, slaves, prisoners, adventurers and soldiers in the Manila-Acapulco Galleon assisting Spain in its trade between Asia and the Americas. Some of these sailors never returned to the Philippines. Most settled in and integrated into the Mexican society. In the late 19th and early 20th century some Filipinos came to Mexico as refugees from Spain during Francisco Franco’s dictatorship.[citation needed] These Filipinos were descendants of Filipino and Filipino mestizo settlers who entered Spain after the Spanish–American War.

Smaller waves of Filipino migration to Mexico took place in the late 19th and 20th centuries after the Philippines was annexed by the U.S. during the Spanish–American War of 1898–1900. A number of Filipino farm laborers and fishermen arrived to work in the Mexican west coast. These areas included the Baja CaliforniaSonora and Sinaloa, while some had awaited to enter the United States to reunite with family members in Filipino American communities in California, and elsewhere. Mexican immigration law continues to grant special status for Filipinos.

Their descendants are found in communities particularly in the state of Guerrero, and Colima. Most of these individuals are mixed blood peoples, and trace half or a quarter of their ancestry and origin back to the Philippines during the Manila-Acapulco Galleon period.

Today, newly arrived Filipinos are overseas or contract workers who came to Mexico to obtain employment. Most of these individuals speak at least one of the Philippine languages.

The first video was informative and I agree with several statements.

However the first video mentions that Filipinos helped Europeans to navigate the Pacific Ocean is questionable.  Filipinos do have a history of voyaging the sea in Southeast Asia and Micronesia which is where Filipinos are helpful to the Europeans in navigating the uncharted sea. On the contrary, Filipinos did not have a history of crossing the Pacific Ocean.  The only ethnic group that had a history of crossing the Pacific Ocean were the Polynesians during those times.  The Spaniards during the Manila Acapulco Galleon Trade basically depended on maps by previous Spanish and Portuguese explorers dating back to Magellan's voyage.  Spaniards may have relied on Polynesian navigators also.

yes, Polynesians are related to us Filipinos, but we've been separated from them for a few thousand years that they have become distinctively different to us in some aspects.

Komodo posted the main commonality between us Filipinos and Polynesians.

Filipinos and Polynesians are seafarers also.

Plus, Polynesians and Filipinos view each others as Islanders.

The Rock's phenotype is Polynesian even though he's only half-Samoan.  Polynesians are bigger, more athletic and stronger compared to several groups and are considered among the physically strongest people in the world.

Polynesians have Austronesian genes but they also have other genes that we Filipinos don't have.  Vice-versa, Filipinos have genes that our cousin Polynesians and Micronesians don't have either.

Polynesians do recognize us Filipinos as Islanders but they also see the differences.  We Filipinos share only some cultural values with the Polynesians.  Polynesians tend to associate more closer to other Polynesians and Micronesians since their culture is more similar to them than to ours.  Polynesians and Micronesians have also a history of interacting with each other in the past and this interaction continues to this day.

have you ever met a Polynesians? I have never heard Polynesians claim us. I can see the cultural similarities but not genetically. Polynesians are usually big.

When I look at a Polynesian, I see them closer to us than East Asians.

Our neighboring Southeast Asians are the only group that is more similar to us Filipinos.  There are Filipinos that could pass up as a Pacific Islander and I have personally mistaken the person as one of them.

The Polynesians and Micronesians do have some similar features to us Filipinos except that they are physically bigger, more athletic and muscularly stronger than any Asian group.

I live in SoCal and this region has the largest population of Pacific Islanders in America. I sometimes encounter Polynesians.  They know that we are Filipinos and they recognize both similarities and differences between us.

If I find one, I'll let you know.

It would be cool to learn more about them. There are lots of Polynesians playing football.

Do you see them around where you live in the east coast?  They probably have some Polynesian Festivals in the east coast like we have Filipino Festivals.
