Immediately after you sit down at the table, the waiters will serve you all the food that they offer in small portions on a plate to your table. After you're done, they're going to count which dish you took/touched and that will be your bill. (Don't wonder what will happen to the dishes you didn't touch -laugh) You eat all of this with your hand!
Ha??!! reminds you of Thai and Vietnamese? wow that's a first -laugh
But yeah of course it sounds like Tagalog, it's from the same language tree! However we cannot understand each other. It's like Korean & Japanese.
The Indonesian language and the Malaysian language is almost identical! Like Thai & Laotian.

Still wondering which rice & shrimp roasted in bamboo dish you mean -confused

Anyway, I said it before and Imma say it again: Padang cuisine is my fav! So here's an intro vid:
]

^I can eat this for the rest of my life.....

LOL that's "ayam" which means chicken, not shrimp!
Hmm I thought Filipino & Indo food is about the same, not all but there are many dishes alike. Especially the ones with Chinese influences.

Anyway here's a dish with shrimps & bamboo

I found a Padang restaurant in Covina! Grin They've opened it last year.

Masakan Padang Asli (which means authentic Padang cuisine)
Tasty Hawaiian BBQ
2620E. Workman Ave.
West Covina, CA

So I don't know whether it's good though. I can't find any reviews but @ yelp one person's saying that it's pretty good and cheap!

Came here last weekend, and found tasty Indonesian food.
Never had anything like this before, and the price is good. $8-$10 you got combo with rice + egg + potato + chicken.

photos from foodsquare (doesn't say it's Indonesian though, just the Hawaiian BBQ, address and Japanese restaurant -laugh) https://foursquare.com/v/tasty-hawaiian-bbq/4c7d6ecbd461a143d4237df5

But I can see the kentang balado (potato), telur balado (egg), sambal lado mudo (green chili paste), daun singkong (cassava leafs) and I think singgang ayam (chicken)

this one has I think dendeng balado (beef) instead of the chicken:

Just try it out, and give us your review!
BTW.. is it a foodcourt or something? -confused
