THIS COUNTRY SURPRISED ME!! (Belize)

 

I had no idea that Belize had so many amazing Mayan pyramids! In this video I explore the country of Belize and visit several hard to get to pyramids which have been lost to the jungle. Hard to reach and requiring boat trips along crocodile infested rivers and flooded roads which made the journeys even more adventurous, the Lamanai ruins and the Cerros ruins have stood for thousands of years and are a true testament to the ingenuity of the Mayans to build these cities with little technology! I also make my way to the South of Belize, where Belize's Mayan community live, and meet the people still honouring their ancestors traditions through the way they live and keeping the language alive. It's a fascinating country and its Mayan pyramids and history was a real surprise!
