BLM’s 7 Demands
1. Convict and ban Trump from future political office:
We are joining Rep. Ilhan Omar, Rep. Ayanna Pressley, Rep. Cori Bush, Rep. Jamaal Bowman, and others who are demanding Trump be immediately convicted in the United States Senate. Trump must also be banned from holding elected office in the future. Call your members of Congress and demand they support conviction by dialing (202) 224-3121.

2. Expel Republican members of Congress who attempted to overturn the election and incited a white supremacist attack:
More than half the Republican representatives and multiple senators stoked Trump’s conspiracy theories and encouraged the white supremacists to take action to overturn the election. We are supporting Rep. Cori Bush’s resolution to expel them from Congress for their dangerous and traitorous actions. We also support steps to bar them from seeking another office.

3. Launch a full investigation into the ties between white supremacy and the Capitol Police, law enforcement, and the military:
The Capitol was able to be breached and overrun by white supremacists attempting to disrupt a political process that is fundamental to our democracy. We know that police departments have been a safe haven for white supremacists to hide malintent behind a badge, because the badge was created for that purpose. We also know off-duty cops and military were among the mob at the Capitol on January 6th. Guilty parties need to be held accountable and fired. We are supporting Rep. Jamaal Bowman’s COUP Act to investigate these connections.

4. Permanently ban Trump from all digital media platforms:
Trump has always used his digital media platforms recklessly and irresponsibly to spread lies and disinformation. Now it is clearer than ever that his digital media is also used to incite violence and promote its continuation. He must be stopped from encouraging his mob and further endangering our communities, even after inauguration.

5. Defund the police:
The police that met our BLM protestors this summer with assault rifles, teargas, and military-grade protective gear were the same police that, on Wednesday, met white supremacists with patience and the benefit of the doubt, going so far as to pose for selfies with rioters. The contrast was jarring, but not for Black people. We have always known who the police truly protect and serve. D.C. has the most police per capita in the country; more funding is not the solution.

6. Don’t let the coup be used as an excuse to crack down on our movement:
In response to the coup, Politicians have already introduced the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act of 2021. We’ve seen this playbook before. These laws are used to target Black and brown communities for heightened surveillance. Republicans are already busy trying to create an equivalence between the mob on January 6th and our Freedom Summer. We don’t need new domestic terror laws, facial recognition, or any other new police power for the state. Our government should protect righteous protest and stay focused on the real issue: rooting out white supremacy. There are enough laws, resources, and intelligence, but they were not used to stop the coup. Our elected officials must uncover why.

7. Pass the BREATHE Act:
The police were born out of slave patrols. We cannot reform an institution built upon white supremacy. We need a new, radical approach to public safety and community investment. President Biden has already drawn on the BREATHE Act in his executive actions calling for racial equity screens in federal programs, investing in environmental justice at historic levels, and engaging with system-impacted communities. The BREATHE Act paints a vision of a world where Black lives matter through investments in housing, education, health, and environmental justice.

We can resist anti-Asian violence without co-opting the language and history of Black Lives Matter

March 22, 2021

OPEN LETTER FROM A4BL ON “ASIAN LIVES MATTER” SIGN AT FRUITVALE AND MACARTHUR, OAKLAND, CA

Hello Neighbors,

We are Asians for Black Lives (A4BL), a formation that supports safety, justice & resilience of Black communities—so all our communities can prosper.

Today, one of our members noticed a large “Asian Lives Matter” sign on the corner of Fruitvale Ave & MacArthur Blvd this afternoon. As a group of Asian folks who organize in solidarity with the Movement for Black Lives, we don’t support this messaging. This is a subversion and co-optation of “Black Lives Matter” and the Black organizing and activism that birthed the original phrase.

We invite those who put this sign up to do some research on the many Asian and Asian American activists who have spoken on why co-opting “Black Lives Matter” messaging to talk about non-Black people and issues is harmful and does more to bring divisiveness between Asian and Black communities. Our collective project of freedom rests with Black Liberation and building up Black Power.

We know that many Asian and Asian American members of our community (predominantly folks of Southeast and East Asian descent) are deeply hurting and scared right now, and our pain should not be used to undermine the centuries of struggle of Black folks for all of our freedom. In our organizing, we always aim to highlight how foundational anti-Blackness is to all race-based violence, discrimination, and hate, and we believe that Asians and Asian Americans are very capable of always holding a commitment to solidarity with our Black siblings, even as we face direct violence against our communities.

We hope that you sit with this all, and we invite you to take down or change your sign as soon as possible. If you came across the QR code, you will also see that we have added our own sign here, in the hope of reflecting our commitment to total liberation and solidarity for our Black neighbors and the wider ethos of Black Lives Matter.

In community,

Asians4BlackLives

Asians and Anti-Blackness in the US

Asians in the US are not a monolith. Some of us are first-generation immigrants who came here to work under selective immigration policies that privileged our education and technical skills. Some of us are here through involuntary migrations—fleeing economic and military wars waged in our homelands by the US and other imperial powers. Some of our Asian families have been in the US for generations. Some of us were adopted from Asian countries by non-Asian families. Some of us are mixed-race and of Black and Asian descent. We cannot ignore the varied experiences and distinctions between how our people got to this land, our familial and community histories in the US, and the way in which mainstream American perceptions and portrayals impact us differently. What we do have in common is that we’re incentivized by capitalism and racism, particularly anti-Blackness, to hold up the dual evils of white supremacy and American imperialism.

In order to fight back, we need to be more informed. That means understanding how we’ve been asked to buy into this system and to uphold ideas, policies, and practices that ultimately go against our interests. That also means being active and vocal supporters of Black liberation, and taking responsibility to end our anti-Blackness. We must acknowledge that anti-Blackness is at the core of all racism and that non-Black Asians have benefited—conditionally—from a system of anti-Blackness politically, economically, and socially. https://medium.com/@asians4blacklives/asians-4-black-lives-uplift-black-resistance-help-build-black-power-b01ef091cc0 c" target="_blank" rel="noopener">See our statement on recent police killings of Black people for more on this. It also means understanding how the history of racial capitalism has impacted all our communities and continues to impact us.

Most Chinese Americans are now fed up with anti-Chinese hate crimes. Now, guess what? what other options do they have on the table

find political allies or create a suicidal clash between other minorities?

In order to gain support from other minorities then concessions must be made with other groups.

Many Asians are now joining the black lives movement.

‘Asian Lives Matter’: Protest against anti-Asian attacks erupts in NYC Chinatown after Michelle Go vigil

  • More than 100 protesters reportedly gathered in Chinatown to denounce the rise in anti-Asian attacks.
  • While Michelle Go’s death is currently not being investigated as a hate crime, it has nonetheless worsened fears of violence throughout Asian American communities.
  • Protesters pleaded for help from Mayor Eric Adams, who insisted that subways are safe before admitting that he himself felt unsafe during a ride.
  • Republican radio host Curtis Sliwa, who lost to Adams in the mayoral election — but won big among Asian American voters — attended the protest and is now criticizing the mayor on Twitter.

Two days after hundreds came together to honor Michelle Go’s memory in Times Square, protesters took to Chinatown to call for help combatting the surge in anti-Asian attacks amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Go, 40, was shoved to her death in front of an oncoming train at the Times Square-42nd Street subway station on Jan. 15. The homeless advocate of over 10 years was allegedly killed by 61-year-old Simon Martial, a mentally ill, homeless man with a decades-long rap sheet.

Family, friends, public officials, community leaders and supporters showed up to Go’s candlelight vigil on Tuesday. New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who was present, expressed condolences to Go’s loved ones.

Martial, who was reported to have mental health issues, has been charged with second-degree murder. He was ordered to be held without bail on Wednesday, the Associated Press reported.

While the case is not being investigated as a hate crime, it has escalated fears throughout the Asian American communities, which have seen spikes in violence since the onset of COVID-19. Sung Yeon Choimorrow, executive director of the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum, said it is impossible to separate Go’s death from what Asian Americans are experiencing.

“You can tell me all you want, [that] this is not related to me being Asian, but when I look at pictures of Michelle Go and read the story I see myself in it,” Choimorrow told CNN.

By Thursday, more than 100 protesters gathered in front of a hotel in Chinatown, according to the New York Post, to condemn the attacks and call for help. Attendees carried signs that said “Asian Lives Matter” and “Mayor Adams, Please Save Chinatown.”

They also called attention to Yao Pan Ma, the 61-year-old Chinese immigrant who died months after falling victim to a separate targeted attack.

“We need Eric Adams. We need our mayor to do something, to fight the crime and protect us,” said Samantha Chan, a member of Concerned Citizens of East Broadway, according to the Post.

Adams told reporters on Sunday that subways are safe and that what needs to be done is “remove the perception of fear,” he said, according to Fox News.

The mayor claimed that Go’s death “aggravates the perception of fear.”

“When you see homeless individuals with mental health issues not being attended to and given the proper services, that adds to the perception of fear,” the Post quotes him as further explaining.

But on Tuesday, on the day of Go’s vigil, Adams admitted that he actually felt unsafe in the subway. He recalled an incident on Jan. 1 — just shortly after he assumed office — involving passengers yelling at each other.

“On day one, I took the subway system, I felt unsafe. I saw homeless everywhere. People were yelling on the trains. There was a feeling of disorder. So as we deal with the crime problem, we also have to deal with the fact people feel unsafe,” Adams told reporters, according to NBC New York.

Republican radio host Curtis Sliwa, who lost to Adams in the 2021 mayoral election — but won big among Asian American voters — also attended the protest on Thursday. Sliwa has taken to Twitter to criticize Adams’ remarks, accusing the mayor of covering up subway crimes and not confronting District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who is also drawing flak for having lenient sentencing policies.

“Adams is saying what de Blasio said for eight years — MTA crime is a perception and not real,” Sliwa wrote. “What happened to the law and order candidate?”

#stopasianhate is a movement to stop sinophobia hate crimes which is deep rooted in covid-19 and the U.S-China cold war.

#asianlivesmatter is a movement that acknowledges the existence of systemic racism which black people have been saying all along.

Instead of using the resources to imprison more disadvantage minorities. The resources need to be distributed to the urban community through social workers, after school programs, loans for business, and job opportunities.

obviously. but USA is racist republicans don't want to elevate other races in this way, they like to dominate them with prisons.
but besides government, blacks never talk about self improvement and don't think they're ever at fault, when their problems are also very obvious.

1 out of 3 black men will end up in prison, not because of rape, or murder but because of a minor weed possession. How can you talk about self-improvement when 33% of the men are in prison.
