My American co-worker have explained to me the politics behind the vaccine holdings. apparently the Democrats are delaying to January 20th to release the vaccine.

this would have no political benefit for them now.
I would say both sides have sunk into their existential struggle, democratic prosecutors will have a huge amount of material. Republicans are driven by their end goal not by truth, only their supporters still care about their accusations.
