@wei-nihao to answer your question about returning to college, by all means, don't return if you think it's racist. there are good schools in other places too.

How about we make a movie about Huang Di and have Cuban Goodin play him?

@wei-nihao I don’t understand the analogy. I think you meant having a white person playing a Chinese? First off it was made decades ago, before Hollywood became more culturally literate. 2) who said anything about banning the black Cleopatra movie? new we’re talking about historical accuracy.

@wei-nihao

This article is lacking historical research. China was first settled and developed by African people known as the Xia.

Please see authors like Dr. Clyde WInters, and Dr. Runoko Rashidi... They have been teaching about the African presence in early asia for more than 30 years.

AND NOT ALL AFRICANS, EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD, APPEAR IN THE FORM OF A "SLAVE"!!!!

is this true with XIA being black lol The Xia and Shang: The original Black civilizations of China (realhistoryww.com)

if this is true, then blacks have a claim to China LOL

@wei-nihao I see Native Americans at gas stations every day and they are much closer to Pure Mexicans than to Chinese 🤣 Afrocentrism is only a small minority compared to 2 billion Chinese who will soon claim Mexicans as Chinese as the next strategy.

The race of Cleopatra VII, the last active Hellenistic ruler of the Macedonian-led Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt, has caused debate in some circles.[2][3] There is a general consensus among scholars that she was predominantly of Macedonian Greek ancestry and minorly of Iranian descent (Sogdian and Persian). Others, including some scholars and laymen, have speculated whether she may have had additional ancestries.[3][4][5]

First off if the show claimed to be a fantasy or based on a theory, however, fringe, would be somewhat OK. But the show claimed to be a documentary. Hence, documentaries must try to portray the characters as accurately as possible. You notice here they did not have a single Egyptian historian or Egyptologist speaking on the subject, instead they have someone saying my grandmother told me this. What? your black grandmother who was born and raised in American knows better? In fact this show was decried by many Egyptian officials and in Egypt, they're trying to block Netflix from showing it saying it distorted and erased Egyptian culture.

Cleopatra VII (known as cleopatra) since all the men were named Ptolomy and many women named Cleopatra. They followed the Egyptian custom of marrying their siblings. So Ptolomy X11 was her father. He married his sister Cleopatra Tryphaena ( V.) (history varried a little bit about the children since they did not keep very good records). around the time Cleopatra VII was born, Cleopatra V disappeared from the records. They didn't know what happened. Did she die?

So this fact gave rise to several theories about Cleopatra's mother. It's too long to list explain all the theories here but in general scholars think Cleopatra V was the mother. One among the many theories that was purported to indicate she was half black is based on a fact that an unmarked tomb was discovered in 1929 that they believed to have belonged to Arsenoe, Cleopatra VII's younger sister.  Noted here a skull was found in 1929. However it got lost somehow. In the 1990's one theorist got a hold of somebody's description of the skull and based on the dimension of the skull, determined Arsenoe was black. Hence if her mother's existence was not certain and her sister was half black then she must have been half black.

So this fringe theory was pretty far fetched compared to all the other theory because first off, how did you know for sure if that was the tomb of Arsenoe? even if it was Arsenoe they found, how did they know who was the mother of Cleopatra VII? She could have very well been a daughter of another wife.

Hollywood is not known for its intellectual curiosity. They'd better prefaced the show by saying: This show is not meant to be a documentary but inspired by this particular theory to support she's was half black might have made it less controversial.

@athena well, Hollywood always has this or that kind of bias. This time they're just poking at people *who care so much* about what race she was. The point is, "Cleopatra was black" is African-American lore, from an era when they could be lynched from trees or bombed from the air. It seems you very well fall into the group that Hollywood is poking at.

@wei-nihao a lore is a folk tale. That’s the point. Had they presented as such, it would not have caused controversy, LOL.

@athena It's technically a docuseries and I don't think people's main complaint is about what Netflix is calling it. They can't accept that an afrocentric story is being made mainstream with good production behind it. So in a way this controversy is exactly about racism and you found yourself arguing racistly without knowing it due to heavy amount of brain washing you experienced.

@wei-nihao Chinese supports Afrocentrics because Afrocentric will help cause racial division like black lives matters. Now if Afrocentrics are claiming Chinese as Black I bet Chinese people will flip out on the blacks when white people are out of the equation.

@james Afrocentrism is because they got enslaved. of course this has nothing to do with chinese it has to do with an aggressive militaristic enslaver of other nations. you imagine this imagine that just don't imagine what's actually true, you have nothing valid to say.

@wei-nihao Afrocentrism is in the Caribbean and Africa. racial supremacy isn't exclusive to white people. Afrocentrism evolved from loving African history into the Afro master race.
