The UN’s human rights office said this week it has verified 28 cases of torture, gang rape and threats of sexual violence against prisoners of war in Ukraine, mostly in Russian-controlled territories.

“Appalling reports of torture and ill-treatment by both parties continue, including prisoners of war, with little progress holding those responsible to account,” UN human rights chief Michele Bachelet said.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken accused Russia Wednesday of forcibly deporting up to 1.6 million Ukrainians to Russia, accusing Moscow of a deliberate criminal operation to depopulate parts of Ukraine.

In a statement a day before the Ukraine Accountability Conference in the Hague on alleged war crimes in Ukraine, Blinken said Moscow is conducting a 'filtration' operation to relocate Ukrainians from the occupied east and south to areas deep inside Russia.

'The unlawful transfer and deportation of protected persons is a grave breach of the Fourth Geneva Convention on the protection of civilians and  is  a war crime,' Blinken said.

HIMARS / MLRS Systems Being Used to Attack Russian Ammunition Depots

HIMARS stands for High-Mobility Artillery Rocket System, and MLRS stands for Multiple Launch Rocket System. The destruction of Russian ammo depots could lead to a shortage of ammunition for Russian artillery.

 

The Ukrainian army systematically is demolishing Russian ammunition supplies. The strategy could have big implications as Russia’s wider war in Ukraine grinds into its (fifth) month.

Firing new, American-supplied GPS-guided rockets—plus a few old, ex-Soviet ballistic missiles—the army in just the last two weeks has targeted no fewer than a dozen Russian ammo dumps.

The Ukrainians have concentrated their ammo strikes in the east, where Kyiv’s brigades have been staging a fighting withdrawal west along a 40-mile-deep pocket of Ukrainian-held terrain anchored in the east at Siversk.

Speaker of Russian Parliament Repeats Threat Against Alaska

In remarks made to the Russian parliament, Volodin said that Russia should take Alaska back by force if seized Russian assets were used to rebuild Ukraine. In his speech, Volodin ignored the fact that "... Member of Russian Duma: Create a 2nd Cuban Missile Crisis to Force the U.S. to Negotiate
