2 Georgia deputies shot outside Atlanta; suspect dead in shootout | Fox News

A manhunt in Georgia on Wednesday for an "armed and dangerous" suspect accused of shooting and wounding two DeKalb County sheriff’s deputies ended with the suspect's death in a shootout with police, according to a report.

Suspect Edward Allen Gatling, 38, was killed in a wooded area in Lithonia, not far from the scene where authorities say the shootings of the deputies occurred, FOX 5 of Atlanta reported. Gatling was being sought on an arrest warrant for charges of aggravated assault with the intent to murder.

No law enforcement officers were wounded during final confrontation with the suspect, the station reported.

The earlier gunfire that unfolded at a residence in Lithonia was the second shooting directed at law enforcement in the greater Atlanta area in less than 24 hours. On Tuesday night, Henry Laxson, an officer with the Clayton County Police Department, was killed in the line of duty in an incident that authorities said left a total of four people dead, including the suspect.

Suspect in Indianapolis cop stabbing was out on bond, police release photos of knives used | Fox News

The suspect accused of stabbing two Indianapolis police officers during an "unprovoked attack" is now facing preliminary attempted murder charges while investigators have also released images of knives they say they recovered at the scene.

Deonta Williams, 20, was taken into custody Wednesday after being released from a local hospital, according to the Indianapolis Metro Police Department. The officers have not been publicly identified yet – but police said one that was stabbed in the neck remains hospitalized and the other, who suffered a chest injury, has been discharged from medical care.

"This morning’s incident underscores the bravery of Indianapolis Metro Police Department officers and the seriousness of the challenges they face keeping our community safe," Mayor Joe Hogsett tweeted Wednesday.

NYPD cop is assaulted in Brooklyn as Mayor Eric Adams institutes solo patrols to combat rising crime | Daily Mail Online

An NYPD transit officer was assaulted in Brooklyn on the first full day cops were instructed to patrol some subway stations alone, police say.

The officer was assaulted at the Pennsylvania Avenue station on Tuesday at approximately 6.45pm after telling the suspect to put out a cigarette he was smoking on the platform.

24-year-old Alex Eremin, who has a history of altercations with law enforcement, threw himself down the southbound platform staircase after the cop confronted him over the cigarette.
