Vietnamese & Filipino food similarities

Some of the dishes are similar to Vietnamese dishes except either sweeter or more bitter.

The Chicken adoblo is similar to Gà Kho Gừng without the ginger.
The pork hocks is like thit kho tau.
The black thing soup is like chao long.
The bitter melon or something soup is like canh muop dang.

Cha Gio is a favorite. This egg roll is similar to our Lumpiang Shanghai, except it's healthier and less oily. It's also the easiest to make.

Bun Cha Gio Thit Nuong is like our Sotanghon Soup with veggies, meat or chicken and spring rolls ....

Essentials: fish sauce fish sauce fish sauce. Plus Siracha and Hoisin Sauce.

Don’t forget Balut. In Vietnam we eat with salt pepper and Vietnamese coriander.

every Asian country has its version of curry. In Vietnam curry is made only with chicken, for starch can use potato or yam.

@zexsypmp23 that looks yummo. Looks like tamarind fish sauce. It's the ultimate umami taste. Vietnamese coriander is one of my favorite herb. I don't remember the last time I eat it but I figure it's eaten a lot as it is quite tasty.

@zexsypmp23 lol, no shame in eating balut. I know in America it’s considered barbaric. I can’t even remember the last time I ate it. Other things people eat in vietnam I think is gross and don’t eat is duck blood jello salad. Do you have it in the philipines?

@athena Most Filipinos don't eat balut on a daily basis. the only dish I know that uses blood is this

@zexsypmp23 that’s interesting. The blood is used as a sauce. I wonder why it doesn’t curdle because when you cook blood it solidify. Must be something in the preparation of the blood. Vnmese also use blood curd, cooked blood and blood sausage. I don’t like blood ccurd but blood sausage is the bomb. If you don’t know what is is you would probably like it too. Here’s chao long or pork offal porridge. I leave out the blood curd.

I have learned how to cook Pho and the spring rolls you guys eat. Soon, I will try more recipe like the chao long
