@qamzardaan

Filipino from the north is different from the south. This is the simplest diagram I can find to explain it easily.

I don't trust the studies. Thai people for example are more Asian looking than us.

@germinator

These are not studies but DNA results of various SE Asian ethnicities from Gedmatch.

You can do this by signing up on Gedmatch and upload your results there after doing a 23andme, ftdna, ancestrydna or any other dna testing companies.

That's because your looks doesn't always correlated to your DNA. Kazakhs, Kyrgyzs look much more Asian than Pinoys for example, but genetically they are much more Caucasoid than Filipinos-like 30-40% Caucasoid on average while most Filos are on average 1-5% Caucasoid unless their Spanish ancestry is very recent based on DNA tests and other studies. If you don't believe me, you can have a look at various Philippine 23andme results.

Those Thais you saw are probably ethnic Chinese. Around 14% or more of Thailand's population are ethnic Chinese.

Most Thais who are not Chinese, look as much Asian as Pinoys. And as hard as it is to believe, they along with the Burmese, Malays, Cambodians, lot of Indonesians have more Caucasoid than Filipinos on average. Pinoys could have the same amount of Caucasoid if they also have significant Indian admix like other SE Asians, which they don't have as much.

According to this study, Filipinos are the only East Asians who have European descent and they do have it at a modest rate.

*Institute for Human Genetics, University of California San Francisco (2015). http://www.genetics.org/content/early/2015/06/18/genetics.115.178616.full.pd f" rel="nofollow">"Self-identified East Asian nationalities correlated with genetic clustering, consistent with extensive endogamy. Individuals of mixed East Asian-European genetic ancestry were easily identified; we also observed a modest amount of European genetic ancestry in individuals self-identified as Filipinos"
