What y'all think of the life of transsexual/transgender/drag in the Philippines?

Are they accepted?

What's the difference with the lives of trannies in the PI vs. elsewhere?

What do you guys think of the recent killing of Jennifer Laude by a US marine supposedly because she was a tranny?

Every site I've read about the Laude case there's a good 50% of the comments (mostly from Filipinos) I've read saying something a long the lines "transgender prostitute deserved to die because she tricked him". Is that right in your opinion?

Are transgenders harassed and abused in the Philippines?

Discuss.

Spoiler
Hey since Catholics are pretending to be 'holy' and accepting, thanks to the good ol papal visit, y'all should be admitting of them since Fafah Francisco de Uno is the hero of the LGBT community. -laugh

My cousin (girl) goes out with a transgender girl (she acts/dresses like a guy).. I think at first her mom really hated the idea of it, but now she seems to be coming around. I think Filipino families are more tolerant of these things compared to other ethnic groups

^I did mention two of my 'aunts' (mom's cousin) were lesbians who pretty much lived like males. One of them used to be so gorgeous (and she didn't come out till later) that guys still today try to get her number when she doesn't dress boyish enough.  They have gf's, and they like my uncles, play around. Last time I was home I saw that their gf's were pretty hot...even hotter than the girl I was dating at that time.

I don't think they're 'transgender' because...it says you have to have sex change and or hormones. Neither of them plan to do that I think.

One of my mom's other (maternal) cousin is a drag, he (we use to call him "kuya"  ). He was hella gay even back then, and use to dress like and practice for beauty pageants as far as I can remember in childhood.  He (or should I say she) hasn't gotten snipped yet, and has a boyfriend the last time I saw his pics on FB.

Lol they are funny. I like them.

But I consider it a sickness or an ailment but its totally not the person's fault. Who wants to be born blind, homosexual or be the gender they feel they're not meant to be? When society looks upon it as an impediment?

The LGBT community...

They need love and understanding, not rejection and persecution.
Just as someone with cancer or mental ailments need love and understanding. Not degradation and picking on the victim.

In this regard, Filipino Catholics are more open and accepting than the Wesboro Baptists who scream "God hates fags" in their regular self-righteous diatribe.

_______

The Westboro baptist church.

Protestant humility in all its shining glory.

But protestants are cool though. Keep on standing that brave stand against us.
And keep on accusing us of idolatry, materialism and etc.

You alone are the white sheep who are totally blameless, while we Catholics are the shameless sinners of the whore of Babylon.

😀

Let me go have my Dark Night of the soul baby, and be a pathetic catacomb dweller, while you can go chill on your ivory towers of perfection and soaring righteousness.

They don't care man. They've been doing it for years and the more Americans respond to them the MORE popular their church get (to extremists).

There are extremist Catholic groups in American though and they are fervently anti-gay marriage as well.

We'll I like how the Pope is causing a huge uproar among us and make us less stuck-up and navel-staring among ourselves and be more open to seeing the good points of others.

In France for example, when asked for commentary over the Charlie Hebdo scenario were millions of Westerners marched for "Freedom of Expression", the Pope said "There are limits to freedom of expression". Basically, whipping up the Anti-Muslim protesters with a thought provoking nugget.

Likewise, when he was in the Philippines, he said, in front of the CBCP, who was actively opposing the RH bill for years, he said: "Filipinos should not breed like rabbits."

He ran counter to our expectations and forcing us to think on our feet. Which is good at times.

Still, I sorta hate him at times too, though. He washed the feet of an imprisoned Muslim girl as a publicity stunt yet stays silent to the thousands of Christians massacred daily, in Muslim countries, but still wants to extend toleration of Muslims who clearly kill people, while in Christian countries.

I hate those kind of things, publicity-stunts.

Let your protestations against bad things in the world be sublime or your righteousness be hidden or the very least, discreet.

"Instead of employing a, hey! Look at me! Look at how awesome I am, mentality!"

Which will make people shallow and vainglorious instead of frugal, chaste and understanding.

As for being Anti-Gay Marriage. We'll the Catholic Church opposed gay marriage back when we stamped it out in ancient Greece (Pederasty was the norm before Greece was Christianized)

Why would we allow an ancient and antiquated mores which we already stamped out, return, disguised as "Modern Liberal Innovations". I.E. Gay marriage?

This will slowly and surely erode the family.

Instead of having a single father and mother, kids these days have been internally wounded by a revolving door of an ever increasing slew of new fathers and mothers caused by the divorce plague. AND I don't want to wound the next generation even further by including outrageous concepts such as having two mothers or two fathers as parents in addition to having divorces done unto them once every second.

The children, thus becoming items to be passed around from one marriage to another which is actually worse in the case of same-sex couples once they divorce, the kids (often adopted), will only be passed from one new married pair to another, giving them zero permanence and no stability.

They should man the ****-up and get married with a proper man or woman and not torture their children with more confusion.

It is this shameless assault against the family which I despise. Since the family is the most basic unit of human society. Assault that, and society itself will be broken.

BTW. I don't hate gays and I sometimes think that Catholic liturgy has a good dose of bromance. All those celibate men, sacrificing marriage and children for love of the Lord, who is also a man.

Or to the Church (Ecclesia, a feminine noun), which happens to be Virgin and unavailable.

Those gays and lesbians better get married in straight marriages that don't sacrifice the future of the children's well-being for their unfortunate illness or they better stay celibate.

Now, they should not go on bitching that bohoohoo we can't get married, Priests and Nuns are ruthless hypocrites, when Priests and Nuns don't even marry themselves...

When in fact, there is a far bigger pressure for them and larger temptation for them, to get married even, because most men love the virgin types and snagging a Nun from her vows would be like the best sexual triumph for him or for a woman, to seduce a Priest from his responsibilities, proof of her irresistible allure.
