Space stations are used tostudy the effects of long-term space flight on the human body. They also serve as a platform for extended scientific studies. All space stations have been designed with the intention of rotating multiple crews, with each crew member staying aboard the station for weeks or months, but rarely more than a year.

Their mission this time is for 3 months, the design duration is 6 months. In the future there will be two crew launches and one or two supply launches every year to keep a crew in place.
They left the space station testing the new Feitian space suit, they will also install an elevated 360deg camera and test the robot arm.
the main scientific missions currently include seed breeding (to get chromosonal variations you cannot get on the ground), and high temperature crystal formation (for aircraft engine blades)
