MOSCOW, April 28 - RIA Novosti. Gas distributors in Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary are preparing to open ruble accounts with Gazprombank to pay for Russian gas, the Financial Times reports citing its own sources.
According to the publication, among the companies that have decided to circumvent sanctions against Moscow are two of the largest European importers: the German Uniper and the Austrian OMV Group. Negotiations between European buyers and Gazprom intensified as the payment deadlines approached.
OMV said it has reviewed Gazprom's request for payment methods in light of EU sanctions and is working on a solution consistent with the sanctions.
Brussels was forced to admit that any step by the EU to impose sanctions against Gazprombank could jeopardize the entire existing mechanism for paying for Russian gas, and this would lead to a catastrophic cessation of supplies to the European Union, the media stressed.
On the eve of "Gazprom" stopped the supply of fuel to the Bulgarian company "Bulgargaz" and the Polish PGNiG because of the refusal to pay for fuel in rubles. At the same time, the corporation recalled that Sofia and Warsaw are also involved in gas transit, and if they start unauthorized extraction of raw materials from volumes intended for third countries, supplies through them will be reduced by this amount.
From April 1, Russia began to accept payments for gas from unfriendly states in a new way in order to get away from the dollar and the euro in such calculations. According to the presidential decree, Gazprombank must open special currency and ruble accounts. The buyer transfers the required amount to the first account in the currency specified in the contract, the bank sells it on the Moscow Exchange and credits rubles to the second account. It is from him that payments are made to Gazprom for the supplied raw materials.

Russia plans to test nuclear missiles capable of hitting the United States and Europe by autumn, an official said.
The Sarmat 2, dubbed Satan 2, missiles will be a “historic” and a “super-weapon” for the country said Dmitry Rogozin, head of the Roscosmos space agency, during an interview on Russian state television Saturday.
The nukes will be deployed to the Krasnoyarsk region of Siberia, about 1,800 miles from Moscow, Rogozin said. The same region previously held Soviet-made Voyevoda kept there during the Cold War.
